Tuning Rail Lock?

I have one also. Used it on a Diana 34 clone (XS25?) and an HW50s and an HW77k.

Worked ok on all of them. It's a bit fiddly. Being a one size fits all, it doesnt exactly fit all. Compromises in the design I suppose. Little things like the plastic plug on the end of the threaded portion not being in the center of the gun's compression tube end plug and making it tough to keep things straight with the angle imparted. But it works and it's easier to store than a big pipe clamp contraption or wood framed compressor, etc.

Caveat is that I could see how gorilla torqueing it down on the dovetails could deform them, but that applies to any dovetail mount really.

I live with my 85 year old father and have become his unofficial watchdog and doer of all the things he's found he can't do in his advancing age and the medical conditions he has, so my bedroom is half bedroom, half gun room/work area and my bed is the "work bench"...lol.
Swing the computer chair around and the Rail Lock makes it easy to sit in front of the "work bench", get a gun apart and tinker all I want. You might have to make an adapter or 2 like I did the L block to make it work on Hatsans, but that's easy enough.
Other's mileage may well vary, but mine has served me just fine.

I have a very small work area as well. I needed something compact. Not a piece of plywood with stuff on it to make a spring compressor so I have even more clutter! I have been waiting on my friend (who has forgotten more about springers than I will ever know) to help but he seems to always be busy. I have a small toolbox for my springer supplies and this should fit nicely. I am going to watch a bunch of tear down videos and start taking notes!

I am not sure how this compares to the Rail Lock. I would have to Irish Engineer that to make it work and that is what I am trying to avoid. I was going to Irish Engineer something but it was always too big and too bulky.
?????... Ok..lol

Wish id took picture of it taking down one of my guns yesterday to show how easy it is and not bulky. Also how many other clamp jobs it can do outside gun work if needed for 20$

100$ for that thing one job only ? How many times do you need to take one down in life. Maybe go to lowes or home Depot or even harbor freight and look and hold one ?

But hay, ya got to do as you think best for you in the end..👍. It's for your use not mine in the end . Not to say it looks nifty and compact but not a 100$ worth at least not around here..

Good luck.

Several ways to skin a cat in my shop. I can use a drill press. I can chuck the action in a lathe and use the tailstock to compress. Some can be done just pushing against the work bench.

BSA like this get clamped in the vise and the tube screwed onto the back block. Takes strong hands.

This is the same tool I’ve used for 10+ years to break down my spring guns. Works great.

Not saying it dont and maybe more convenient . I like you may not have to remove the barrel ( how hard is that anyway? ) on a quick inspect, clean or lube job. At 100$ its not that convenient. Maybe 30+40$ ya i could see it . Just looks like air venturi name and exclusive only us gouge ya pricing on it to me that's all .

Heck take 3/4 a pipe style clamp thats 1"od pipe and mount it in a old scope ring. For 15$ + small length pipe . Got the sctew to comptess and mounts to the rail.. i dont know i guess some got more money then they know what to do with or the soon parted thing. I like ke keeping mine in my billfold best i can.

Enjoy.

Would I like a shop like KWK's? You bet, but definitely not enough room...lol
Beam clamps? Yep, got access to probably a dozen in my fathers basement workshop.
The Rail Lock? Yep, own one. Small, light weight, works and the bonus is it fits in my tool box.
To each their own on what everyone has, uses and works for them.
There is no right or wrong tool to use as long as it works and safely :)

Check this i made up just now.. this clamps throat is too deep but thetes the pipe kind that's shallow and seem to line up with the receiver end
Like this one

The scope mount fit perfect on this beam type

A guy could have all he needs lieing around to make one for pennies or free.

Nice invention. Glad to see someone has the resources and supplies to cook up stuff. I used to have all kinds of stuff and room to hold them. I sold everything to move back in with my parents. Now I have to start over and sometimes that means a turnkey solution is the best option. I am lucky enough to be able to afford some new toys every once in awhile. Men and boys, price of their toys. Last time I checked you can't take it with you, might as well burn it up and have fun! :D
