R5M stock on a Lelya?

Just curious if anyone has ever tried this. I had a Lelya a while back and really liked it , "but", I like using a bipod, at least some of the time. The mounting methods that I found left a lot to be desired, and on a lesser note, trying to use a shooting bag is difficult to say the least. If a R5M stock could be cut down some it would solve both problems. Just wondering if it's doable.

I don't see why you won't be able to do it. I believe the bolt that screws into the Lelya stock is a little longer than the R5M Standard stock. You can just use the bolt that comes with R5M Standard stock. The only issue I see is if you cut the front end of the R5M stock, there will be a void space which might need to be filled in as it wouldn't look too good.

Yeah, I can live with using a filler, sanding an repainting if it's the only issue, since I'd already be eliminating the r5m stock for future use anyway. Thought I might find a r5m stock someone had replaced with a laminate. I sold my Lelya a few months ago and am seriously considering getting another. If swapping the stock would work I would definitely get one on the way.

C'mon Mike! Again? That's not what the OP is asking about.

h2okenny,

Here's a pic of the inside of the R5M Standard stock if you need to get an idea. If you need any other pics, let me know.

Peskadot671,

Thanks for the comments😊, and pictures. I actually have a r5m. I always meant to check out the possible fit with the Lelya before I got a wild hair and sold it.

Brian,

Thanks for responding. So other than the length, the r5m would fit?

I don't dislike the original stock enough to order a custom (expensive) stock, but if I could get a decent price on a used one I would give it a shot. Doesn't have to be pretty, but wouldn't want it to be butt ugly either. I'd still have the original to fall back on if I screw things up.

Yeah, it looks like the last hole in the r5m stock would need to be filled, then cut it down, taper and sand the end and obviously paint the stock.

Yeah, me to. The wood stock is thin and would splinter or split really easy, but would be a lot easier to sand and shape than the synthetic. I'm also concerned with how well paint would adhere long term with normal usage with the syn.

Not really. The synthetic stock is "pre-shaped". All that needs to be done is to shorten the removable front-end piece.

The other thing to consider is that if you purchase a wood or laminate stock, you still need to find, purchase, or manufacture a trigger guard. With the synthetic stock, it's "built in".

Call Brian (West Coast Edgun seller). He'll know if they will interchange.

Go to the Edgun website, I believe his address is there.

Mike

They will interchange. Bolt holes match. The only thing you need is a different bolt for the front trigger guard. The bolt needs to be shorter than the stock Lelya front bolt. Basically, look at the R5M schematic for trigger guard bolt.
