R5M Matador Owners

I just got a new Edgun Matador R5M .25. I am trying to get some info before i pull out the chrony and start shooting.

Looking at the Manual it stays that i can adjust the pressure to increase or reduce speed. Can I do both without removing the air tube? In the Manual all it says it the direction to move it??

What speeds have worked best for you? I know JSB 25 grain work well from research any other pellets grouping well?

If you can share any other useful information i would appreciate as this is a new animal to me. I have put a few mags through her so far and grouping in a vertical pattern so i am guessing a little adjustment needs to be made to get it grouping to my liking at 25 yards.

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi I have a few 25 caliber edguns . I have a few different tunes I found to be very accurate here is how I have mine set up , Which ever way you set it up I found keeping the regulator settings very low to be most accurate in all mine . post some groups please

LOU

25 GR JSB

LOW POWER TUNE

700 FPS 27FPE

760 FPS 32FPE

HI POWER TUNES

940FPS 50FPE

The mk2 pellet 34 gr shoots very very well at 860fps 55fpe

I also shoot slugs at hi power in them very accurately here is a typical group size at 50 yards with the 25 grain jsb in edgun r5m

I have an R5M standard .25 shooting lights out at 900 fps using JSB King 25g pellets. This is using the regulator as set from the factory.

I have a Lelya .25 shooting JSB King 25g pellets at 760 fps - again, lights out accurate. All I did was adjust the hammer spring tensioner with a 10mm Allen key until I achieved the desired FPS.

Edgun barrels like to be cleaned every 50 to 100 shots initially as the barrel gets broken in. If you notice any accuracy loss, clean your barrel, then it should improve. A little Ballistol and some pull through cotton pads and you’re all set. The cleaning interval will increase the more you shoot.

In my EDguns, 850-890 is a good speed for the 25.4s. This can usually be achieved at or below the factory reg setting of 125 BAR using only HST adjustment. Make sure you set your speed at least 13-15 fps below the maximum speed at a given reg pressure. This seems to improve SD as well as efficiency.

The guns can run the pellets significantly faster, but 850-890 is consistently a very stable speed for the EDguns with pellets. Some guys are very successful as high as 925. I see better results around 880. That assumes you want that much power. You can certainly shoot all the way down to 550 if you shoot short distance or indoors.

You have to adjust the reg by taking out and breaking down the reservoir. I turned up my reg to 145bar. The gun can really be geared up, but I suspect that my accuracy is suffering slightly. Mine (in .22) is tuned up to 48fpe for slugs and I feel there is a lot more jump in the crosshairs than if I would keep it at 30fpe and pellets.

But, I'll take the extra power over a hair less accuracy. The flatter trajectory and extra power will help hit more targets because it is more forgiving on miss ranging or a miss reading of the wind. I've been shooting really close to MOA ten shot groups in the wind, so whatever precision I am losing with the extra power, it has to be minimal.

Plus, I just tweaked my gun last night to better cope with the extra power. I have not tested it yet but I am fairly confident that it will result in tighter groups. I will share once I verified it actually works.

Hooper,

To adjust speed at a given regulator pressure you need only adjust the hammer spring tension. Right handed / CW rotation will reduce speed. From the factory your gun is most likely set at 125 BAR regulator pressure which is a great pressure for the 25.4 grain .25 pellets. No need to remove your air tube or adjust your regulator. I recommend setting your speed at 880-890 fps. Shoot several tins at this speed then report back👊🏻

Sent PM too.

Aloha Rick,

Did you get the standard or the long? What caliber is your R5M? When I got my R5M long in .25 from Brian, I did the usual. Clean & lube the barrel, then I shot it over my chrony to see what speeds it was putting out. With the jsb mk2 I was between 870-890 I did some adjustments to get the gun to shoot 900-910. To adjust the hammer spring you'll have to remove the stock and use a 10mm allen wrench. Since then I have turned back the hammer spring to shoot 890-900 which I got the best accuracy from my gun with the jsb mk2.

Aloha,

Keone

My .22 cal New glass, New BAT mod, tuned for 22 gr VK and FX slugs (.217 is best is you want to shoot NSAs) at 940 fps.

These are very tunable guns, and you can throw in a Huma reg for a power upgrade. Trigger can be tuned to less than 1 lbs...

Ridiculous quiet with the BAT. Very accurate. Pic of groups at 50 yrds with the FX hybrids. It will do this all day long.

Easy to install a rail for bipod... Edgun West has a Jig and will do it for 30 bucks.

Scope Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30 x 56....

Take off the stock and find the 10mm hex nut. It sticks out and is silver. Turn it counter clock wise to increase, clockwise to decrease power. You dont have to turn it alot. Only do by 3-4 click intervals, the check speed.

I got my r5m long in .25

I have tried the JSB Hades and the JSB mark2 out he box was shooting the Hades 956fps and the Mark 2s in the 940s

shot about 300 and cleaned it groups are about 50cent piece at 50 yards. So I turned the reg down to 120 now its Doing Hades abut 930 fps and about 1" groups better with the mark 2s.

Qustion to all ?

I tried NSA slugs as I have 3 different sizes for my Impact to see how they would do and they will not even seat in the gun ? Cant close bolt and blowback in my ear .

Whats the problem here ?
