Any ideas on making my .177 Nova Freedom quieter would be much appreciated. I don't really want to put a moderator on it, as the rifle is pretty long as it is.
I've already had it apart repairing the pump, so I'll try the curler trick first,especially since I have the materials on hand. Explaining to the wife why I'm rummaging around with her curlers might be a chore though
You can also use a very weak spring or 2 separated by a washer sushi wrapped with scotch brite type material or even dish cloth or bath towel scrubber type material.
The Freedom uses the same barrel and shroud as the Liberty. I did testing with different baffles, vented muzzle spacer, vented shroud and adding 2-3" in front of the barrel. The former made minor reductions and changes in tone. The 2-3" in front of the barrel made the most significant change.
