Quietest airgun...Taipan?

So I think I want upgrade from my hatsan bullboss and flashpup...I would like the quietest,powerful and simplest gun I can get. I don't care for over complicated-40 different oring setups. I'm thinking taipan or cricket... quiet is definitely a priority as I can only shoot out the window or door due to neighbors...

I have a Taipan Veteran .22 with a Donnyfl Tanto. It is so quiet you wonder if it's even functioning right. Spooky quiet.

Beautiful guns, but I have a hard time with the cooking lever. If it was forward a little more it would super sick.

They really are well built and quiet! I like to call them snappy! They just sound different in a cool way! I’m a huge fan obviously, the cocking is not in the best spot, I must lift my head to cock them, but if you hit everything you shoot at? Who cares Just don’t care to shoot a lot of bench with them, but one of my favorite hunters fo sho!

They are reasonable quiet with the standard shroud. It depends on what power you shoot. If you attach an aditional moderator, it becomes much more quiet. You need an adapter, if you want to attach an aditional moderator on the shroud.

Yes, I can testify as a Taipan Vet Compact in 25 cal owner that with the Sumo moderator at 40 ft/lbs the Taipan, for the energy level, is scary quiet. The furthest shot I have had is around 55 to 60 yards, but I am told in 25 cal I can reach out to 75 yards plus.

My buddy was so convinced about the performance of my Taipan he went out and bought one!

I am thinking of finding someone who can do a dip of some kind that would work on the beech wooden stock, aka bling the gun up a little.

I have a .22 Standard Veteran and, as others have said, it is very quiet, almost unbelievably so. The only other rifle I have that comes close is an HW 100, but it's a .177. A friend has a .25 Veteran, and it is noticeably louder than my .22, but still very quiet. Accurate, simple, robust, great trigger, you will like it.

You will love your new shorty!

.25 shorty puts out a lot of power for it's size and is not very quiet in stock form.

I recommend you contact Donny and put an adapter and SUMO on that bad boy

TATSU does a decent job on the .25 but SUMO is even better.

Get a Taipan .22 and put a Sumo on it and your noise worries are over, keep the power down as much as possible, you will also be getting a less complex ACCURATE ait rifle!

My vet is a .25 short and at around 42 ft/lbs, is one of the quietest guns I have heard. I'm using a huggett snipe. I will also say that getting the gun dialed in with the reg and hammer spring makes a significant improvement in the noise. Less wasted air.

My setup is actually a tiny bit louder than with just the stock barrel shroud but I love the way this looks. I also feel the accuracy is improved compared to the shroud. The gun is a .22 tuned at 31.5 FPE with the regulator at 95 bars. I can get it quieter by increasing the regulator and lowering the hammer spring tension to keep the same FPE, but the shot to shot consistency will suffer a bit especially with regards to first shots after sitting unused for a while.

Quietest airgun I've owned out the box was by far my Taipan Veteran long .22. when I first shot it thought something was wrong and it had to be shooting sub 800fps with the 18gr JSBs. Much to my surprise when the chrony showed 950fps. Crazy quiet guns. My Shorty .22 wasn't terribly quiet but for the power output on a short barrel and shroud, it was quiet.

I'm going to buy one tomorrow once the pay check drops... super ecited as well! however i have to ask... Ive heard others complain of a negative POI change when moderators were put on a taipan vet... has anyone here had any problem with it? thank

Do you mean just that the POI changes when putting a moderator on? Happens with most guns. As long as it still is accurate it doesn't matter. Mainly a change in harmonics so it'll likely hit in a different area.
