Quiet reactive airgun target?

I’m looking for something like an airgun spinner or flipper target that is not made from metal. What I want to do is eliminate the “ding” or “whack” when a hit is made. I thought about gluing a piece of inner tube to the target face on my spinner but figured that wouldn’t hold up. Any idea where to get something like a self-healing flipper or spinner target?

No joke .that as seen on tv plasti-dip and Plasti-dip stray can is pretty nice you could dip it pretty much anything In plastidip if it’s got a clean surface and use paint Brush ?

I’d use try one of each the dip and spray can .

it literally would put a thick coating of soft but dense plastic on the metal and absorb the sound my buddy a drummer uses the cans to spray his cymbals to make them sound duller and not ring as much on his splash cymbal it might just workout pretty well For plinking , around 5-10 bux a can at walmart or amazon in many colors

Or finding giant shrink wrap and a heat gun then it getting ripped to shreds after a few hits ,

nice thing about the Plastidip spray is when it gets ripped from shots you can just hit it a couple times to fill in the holes spray it up and it adheres back into form like nothings there im sure the ding will be gone might even catch a couple slugs .

good luck

Maybe something like this:

I have a feeling that it still might make a "thwack" when hit.

For the past 2 years, I've been doing a LOT of shooting indoors..
For my backstops, I use something called "Stall Mat"
It's 3/4" thick rubber, but, I've only seen it come in Big sheets..
Tractor Central Supply is where I get mine..

A 'spinner' could easily be made by using little chunks of this stuff..
Thread it onto a rod, bolt it onto an existing metal target, etc.

It takes some Serious abuse, and it's relatively quiet when impacted.
I whack the stuff with .22 cal non stop and have gone up to .25 cal

^^^

I used to double it up, so in that frame, there's 2 layers.
Then after blowing through it with .25 cal,
I add a 3rd layer now - Just to be 'safe'. lol

🙂👍

Sam -

PS: If it's quiet enough not to drive me nuts indoors at only 10 meters,
I'm sure it'll be more than quiet enough for anything else it's used for.

Worst thing that can happen Is your out of 5 or 10 bux but can have the knowledge but after you let it dry and if it doesn’t work for you get a box cutter or-a razor utility blade and cut it on on both sides and if it’s on metal or a harder material it will peel right off like butter.

so if you want to make it stick good maybe get some steel targets that already made from some really rigid patterns or a already used and dinged up target to make it stick a little better let me know how it works out for you.

In the background of this photo you can see a wooden target. I believe this one has over 100 things to shoot out. WHen I'm done shooting out all of the squirrels and other targets, I chip away at the wood till there is nothing left but bits of wood. Takes almost a tin of pellets. They have quite a variety of targets and sizes. I put them in front of a box with rubber mulch. Obviously near silent except for smacking the box. I'm getting a large order of them soon.
