Quick Riton conquer x3 6-24x50 review - not impressed

After some researching and reading of the forum I decided to try Riton conquer x3 6-24x50 because there are a few things that I like to see some improvement on my current scope which is the Vortex diamondback tac 4-16x44.

What I like about the Riton Conquer X3:

  • Seems well built
  • Turrets have revolution counter
  • Turrets are very nice and tight
  • Comes with flip up lens cover
  • Sadly that's about it!

What I don't like and why it's going back:

  • Optic is less than good, at 24x it's down right unusable blurry and dark, at 18x and up isn't much better
  • Especially at 24 the color bleeds over, I forgot the term but it's really bad! Reminds me of really cheap scope
  • Reticle is too thick at 24x but very usable at lower power, I just prefer a little thinner since I use higher power more often.
  • 29 oz for a 30mm tubed scope is quite heavy
  • Turrets need an allen wrench to reset to 0, this is 2020 Riton!
  • Sunshade is not included and cost 29.99!

Compared to the Riton the old Diamondback is a lot brighter and clearer, at 18x or max it is still very clear and usable. The difference in glass is significant, I was not expecting that at all!!! To say I'm disappointed after spending 600 bucks on Riton is an understatement! At this point I'm just going to order the 6-24 diamondback tac and call it a day. I only got a chance to take pictures with my Pard 007 on the Riton. By the time I swapped everything back it's much darker so it won't be fair but the diamondback is still brighter in lower lighting.

It’s a US company and made in China. I was rather shocked on how bad it was. When there was more light it was even worse with pink/purple CA at 24x, 24x magnification is simply unusable to be completely honest. Not only the CA is bad, it’s very hazy and no where near clear at higher magnifications. Maybe I got a bad one but glass looks super cheap.

THATS GAWD DAMN AWFUL LOOKING CHROMATIC ABERRATION THERE BABY!!! I WOULD JUST RETURN IT. THANKS FOR THE WARNING! Yo!

master yo, you apparently have most scopes out there. What would you recommend in FFP in 6-24x magnification and under $600? using diamondback tac As reference/baseline? Midas Tac? I do like athlon’s feature set. Also need 10-15 yard parallax since I have a small yard.

thanks!

Athlon Helos and the Gen2 Argos would suit and definitely within your budget.

According to the website FAQ section it's Japanese glass......

What type of glass do you have in your optics?

Currently, there are no American manufacturers that can supply enough high quality, HD lenses to support our needs. Thus, we source all of our glass for each and every optic from Japan. You can expect high quality HD (High Density) glass in every optic.
The source of the base material is not nearly as important as the optical design. Our glass is so much clearer due to our proprietary lens coatings, how we engineer the prescription of the lenses, and the construction of the optic itself.

also on the assembly......

Where is your final assembly?

All of our optics have hand sourced Japanese glass and are final assembled in Japan or China depending on price point. We source all of our raw materials and use oversees assembly based on price point.

Small yard huh? I BET the $299 on sale at SWFA BUSHNELL TAC 5-15x40AO SFP 15x Mildot beats ALL $500 and under scopes in optical clarity NO QUESTION. I just received 10 of them took one out to have a looksee and DAMN ITS FRIGGIN CLEAR! Almost as clear as the $699 SWFA SS 3-15x42 and $750 LEUPOLD 6.5-20x40AO EFR. Yo!

You couldn't go wrong with the Midas TAC! It destroys any other scope mentioned in this thread! It looks like you prefer thin-ish reticles and the 6-24 suits. Though honestly the one in the 4-16 is a bit too thin. It doesn't have an all .2 mil reticle like the Riton has. If you want .2's round about the reticle in the Ares BTR Gen2 does have one however it only focuses down to 25Y.

A friend of mine that is well respected here on AGN has bought quite a few scopes from different Co's this last 2 years and he exclaims he's not a Athlon fanboy but of all the scopes he's bought the Midas TAC is #1, which really says something.
