Questions About Frequent Resale of Great Airguns

Simply because they are always " improving" their models and coming out with new ones, mans quest for the newest improved model....it is a great business plan.....in some newer equipment the older equipment can be updated...that is a good business plan and selling point for very small expensive manufacture's ....Butt for FX and other PCP makers the "Race is On".FX business plan and inventor are aware of their faithful, who certainly help out us out who prefer to buy second hand......our problem is too many times the second rifles stay too expensive.....for too long..

As @toku58 stated, it sounds like the iPhone effect of the Airgun world.

@Hammer That’s sound logic. I can understand your perspective. It’s almost like leasing an Airgun.

I’m going to answer your question with a question: why aren’t there many not so good Airguns for sale? Partly because they aren’t worth anything because they aren’t great, then their quality usually is at a state where they aren’t even functioning after a year or so to even to be sold by any honest person.

Then we look at your question of why are they so many great guns for sale? Because they actually will be functioning after a year or two, then they are such good performers there they are worth good amount of money so they are worth the effort to even sell it. Dovetail to that point, because they are great and worth good amount of money then when people who wants to upgrade would sell to fund the next great gun because they can actually sell them.

Similar to how many older Hondas and Toyotas are for sale and for good money. Why? because they are still running and running great while many other cars of same age have already been turned into tuna cans.

This analogy has been a lingering thought before I posed the question, but I was unsure so I thought I’d ask.

Ezan, I just sold my 2 year old Crown and ordered the M3, I just wanted to upgrage to a platform that was eaiser to switch to different pellets. My Crown was flawless but I know I would never use 2 guns.

The M3 looks svelte. Other than appearances I’m not familiar with the brand. From posts on AGN, I’m under the impression that FX guns are for those who like to tune and tinker with their guns.

100% correct!

"I only look for slightly used great guns. They have already been checked and tested."

Nothing wrong with that view. But I consider the flip side of the coin as just as much a possibility-that they have been checked and rejected. All relative. I would possibly buy a used gun, and might even (but absolutely less possibly) buy a used scope. But I wouldn't buy used unless there was a SIGNIFICANT savings from new. JMO.

It is a risk, but I don't buy guns that are not very popular, or that haven't proven themselves, or ones I know parts would be difficult to acquire, or new released guns. There is a lot of thought put into my used purchases. The Good Lord tells us to manage what we are given well, so now you know the rest of the story. Plus, it's just a hobby anyways and not a must have, so why not have fun in this way as well. It helps others out by doing so, which is not all bad, either.

Part of it is the spoiled American Syndrome. No matter how great a product is , we see something new & we just gotta get it. Part of it it is sharing our expierence/knowledge on forums or other groups of like minded people. You can deny it if you want, but these public discussions/forums influence a lot of us to the point if we cared, it would be scarey. I don't, LOL. Plus a lot of people just want to experience the latest greatest thing, & pass the last one on to someone else at a discount. Kind of like a meal, you are full & you can't imagine eating again, but hunger soon comes back & you eat again. Personally I am hooked to new things, not near as deadly as drugs or alcohol. I never stop searching for my next air rifle or the perfect scope. I generally give my surplus to family members & friends. Happy Shootin..😁
