Question; R5 Matador.30 Standard Huma Regulator

Ok guys my R5 Matador .30 Standard with the huma Regulator already Installed will be here tomorrow i think the reg is set at 125 bar (the Member i bought it from wasnt really sure) ...i plan on shooting NSA 47 gn slugs Exclusively....was hoping to get it at around 900 to 910 fps....whats a good starting point to achieve that???? Also. What is the best fps for that Particular slug In terms of shot count...i would like to get at least 20 good shots before falling off the reg...

Mine shoots Nielsen 47 slugs at 870fps..and jsb 44.75 and 910fps

‘I get around 30 good shots, I was going to set it for 900fps but, it shot well at 870 and I didn’t want to up the regulator or hammer spring anymore than it is...regulator is set at 130, but I believe that the tape for regulator setting is off a little bit. I believe it to be around 125 but haven’t tested it.shoots as expected.., hope that helps.

@Hekk187 I was just talking to Brian at edgun West after i posted this...I addressed my concerns in terms of reg set, NSA 47 gn slugs & Quietness....125 to 130 seems to be a good starting point....more then likely im just goin to leave it alone....But i appreciate you input it helped alot...Thanks

If you only plan on shooting the slugs you'll probably have to bump the regulator up a bit. You should be able to achieve 900 fps by just adjusting the HST. But if you want it to be as quiet as possible at that velocity then a higher reg pressure will likely close the valve faster.

@Michael Quietness is very important...But what fps shoots the NSA slugs best?? If they shoot well at 850 to 875 ish id be more then happy with that....I thought a higher reg Pressure would make it louder? I dont really know much about Huma Regulators and im just now learning about "Tuning" to a specific ammo...

Typically a higher reg pressure will close the valve faster. Overall you may lose a few shots (on the reg) but gain a bit quieter airgun.

It will take more pressure/power to shoot slugs than pellets of the same weight.

@Michael i now have a better understanding...thank you...I finally got my R5 yesterday...sighted her in at 50 yards...5 shot hole in hole was to easy....i then ran 10 shots through the crony with the NSA 47 slug and this was the Results;

Low-819

Average-820

Extreme spread-5

Standard deviation-1

I'm not really sure where the Previous owner had the reg set at but im Assuming its set on the low end...i just posted a question today here on AGN tryin to get some feedback now that i actually have the gun in hand and have first hand data....i was thinking (Although not sure) that 820 fps wasnt enough as i plan on shooting 47 slug? I appreciate any and all feedback... Again...Thanks..
