Question on the newer FX transfer ports.

I got the FX Wildcat MK3 in .22 cal last week and so far i'm realy liking it.It's my third FX gun.

It came with the new transfer port that on one side has a single small opening marked P for pellets and a dual one on the opposite side marked S for slugs.

I tweeked it just a bit and im satisfied with the accuracy and consistency.I shoot JSB and FX 18.13 pellets.

My question is one of curiosity as to what would happen, what effect it would have on velocity/overall tune if i was to turn the barrel around and used the dual port meant for slugs and just kept shooting my favorite pellets?

If anyone has tried it i would like to know what effect it had.I'm curious but not curious enough to do it,im sticking with pellets with this gun.

Jim;

I've got a Crown Continuum, both barrels came with the port arrangement you describe. I've experimented with both barrels using a variety of slugs and pellets and using both ports. In both barrels, both port arrangements shoot pellets and slugs equally well. In the 380mm barrel the single port is quite large, and shoots Pellets and slugs about 20 fps slower than the dual port "s" port. The single port in the 600mm barrel is much smaller and shoots about 100 fps slower than the dual port "s" port.

My experience has been that the dual port "s" ports result in increased velocities.

Airgunmann, i too gained 40 fps after switching to the ''P'' side and the Wildcat shoots lights out.

On hammer setting 5 it shoots JSB 18.13 at 877fps and on 6 it shoots the H&N 25 grain slugs at 815fps with equal accuracy.

I'ts exactly what i wanted out of the gun, both pellets and slugs hit exactly on the same spot at 50 and 90 yards.

I'm perfectly sattisfied with that,no need for any more velocity/power for what i do.

That's around 34.5 flbs with pellets and 36.5 with slugs with the reg at 100 bar.

It's the compact Wildcat MK3.
