Question for you .25 Vet Shorty owners

Mine is a .22 Standard, so two significant differences from your .25 Compact. I would be inclined to start around 880, and begin slowing it down, see what happens. If you see good accuracy at, say 840 or so, you can then see where you are in your tune balance, and adjust the reg accordingly, if needed. I'm sure you didn't get a shorty with the intent of maximum power, so if sound, air consumption and accuracy are your criteria, you should be satisfied.

Well, after shoveling some snow off the patio, and setting up the crony, looks like the magic number is 865.

50 yds, calm winds:

Depends on the "distance" to be shot, as much as the pellet weight..!

You can go very slow at 25 yards. The farther that the pellet is expected to go, the faster it needs...to go.

With my guns (a bunch !), because I shoot a shorter distance, I've turned all of my (adjustable) rifles down to around 800fps. Guess what, they all still shoot very well..! And only two needed the sight readjusted. I just fully understand that if I extend the distance, I need to reset the speed.

To me, there's NO NEED to push the speed if it's not required.

Plus, it really doesn't matter what everyone else is doing..! It's YOU and YOUR gun. The gun is adjustable for you...to learn it and adjust as you...see fit. Push the power (pressure) or make it easy on the guns internal parts if you don't...need...the power !

Mine groups well shooting 25.39 FX pellets in the 890’s. I have also tried the JSB’s and the FX did a little better for me, I might have just received a better batch of the FX’s compared to the JSB’s that I have on hand. Below are three 50 yard groups from mine shooting the FX pellets. I could have done a little better if my scope was higher magnification, it only goes up to 4x.
