question for RAW owners

It's NEW GUN DAY! Well yesterday was anyway. FedEx just brought me this new HM1000X. I'm anxious to get it out and shoot but first a quick question if anyone knows.....

Is there a safe way to de-cock the gun? Sounds like a silly question I know, but cocked it as I was looking it over and I assumed that by holding the cocking lever back while squeezing the trigger I'd be able to slowly let the hammer down. I was wrong. The gun went off while I was lowering the cocking lever. Is there a way to do this? Or is that something​ RAW owners just have to be careful of.

I think you got the de-cocking right. I do the same process for decocking. With the lever back and hold it when squeeze the trigger. Feel the tension on the lever and slowly fold it back. The key is the tension. Only thing I noticed was if you cock the lever way back and hold it then you cannot squeeze the trigger. Also be careful not to double feed when decock with mag in. I guess it is pretty much the same for most of airguns with decocking features.

i just grabbed my 5 month old hm1000x and ur doing it correct ,its the only way i would with no mag in do it again this time lay the gun on a towel and go real slow dont let the lever move quickly hold firm go slow if it goes bang again you need to call martin before someone gets hurt ,,by the way congrats on the sweet looking rig how long did u wait i have a second HM1000x on the way rhis time a 25 my other is 39 cal its been 11 weeks

Hmmm, thanks for the responses. I had it out today to sight it in and the same thing happened. After shooting the last pellet I pulled the lever back, removed the magazine, held the trigger and slowly put the lever back. At about 90% closed the rifle fired. There was no pellet in the gun so it was ok, but now I'm worried.... I'll contact RAW tomorrow.

The only way to "De-Cock" the rifle is ....
(Make sure gun is UN-LOADED)

Hold The Cocking Handle FULLY Rearward..... While Holding the Trigger back.... WALK THE COCKING Handle forward....
By Holding the Trigger in the "Fired Position" this keeps the "Sear Bar" from Latching on to the "Sear" and allows the Hammer to move forward to the "UN-Cocked" position....

Keep in mind that as long as there air in the bottle it is ok the "Dry Fire" these guns..... "MAKE SURE THE GUN IS CLEAR..... AND.... DISCHARGE in a SAFE Direction......

Sounds like im the only one who had trouble with this, but I thought I'd post a follow up just in case.... Thanks to Jungle for giving me the clue. the process is just slightly different than my other rifles.

The cocking lever has what I'd call two stages. It pulls back easily then at the last 10% of the travel (the "second stage" I'll call it) there is a little more resistance. I'm assuming this is where the sear is reset. If you hold the lever ALL the way back you can't pull the trigger. I didn't notice, so I would squeeze the trigger and start to lower the lever. It seems the pressure on the trigger was enough to hold the hammer temporarily without setting the sear. As I lowered the lever the tension would give and the hammer would fly forward firing the gun.

What you have to do is hold the lever MOST of the way back (at the end of the "first" stage). Pull the trigger there and you can feel the hammer catch, then you can slowly lower it. Problem solved.
