I have a Daisy 880 that I purchased in the early 70s with the metal sides and pump handle with checkering (no diamond) on the forearms. It is been in the closet for years in its original box with the original box of pellets I purchased for it. I used it for the first time since I put it away the other day and it still seems to work fine. The one thing that I did notice is that when there is no compressed air being stored, the pump handle flops all the way down unless you hold it up. Is this normal?
As I said it has been a long time but as I recall it has always been so but there was no Internet to ask about a possible cure at the time so I just lived with it. All it takes is one pump and it stays up fine but the only time I would like compressed air being stored is when I am going to shoot it.
I have looked at the end of the pump handle closest to the receiver and on each side there is a small projection but I see nothing in the bottom receiver opening that might grab those projections to hold it up at rest.
