Question for AA Pro Sport owners

Question is for Air Arms Pro Sport owners that have reduced the power with a Vortek or Maccari kit to say about 12ft.lbs Do you notice a significant reduction in the cocking effort (say of a least 5 lbs. or more) after installing or is it just that the Pro Sport's under lever is just gonna be difficult because of the leverage?

No,its Much lower and pleasant to cock.Plus,it Still has enough power to hunt/pest. I have Never missed the few extra ft lbs. It's Much more pleasant to shoot and I believe this is the power level it was designed for in the 1st. place...the higher power level was to accommodate the US market. The thing is,Many US customers de-tune the rifle because it shoots so wonderfully at the 12 ft lb level.

Thanks Mike, I have owned 3 Pro Sports now but never reduced the power on one. My TX will be around 13 ftlbs after I install the Maccari kit I just received. My old TX was right about 12ft.lbs and that gun was great to shoot. The Pro Sport fits me so well I was thinking of putting one together for NRA silhouette @ 12-13 ftlbs. Just wanted to hear that the cocking effort will be significantly less....that gun can wear you out which would not be good in silhouette. At 45 yards max distance (Rams) 12ft.lbs is plenty of power. Thanks.

Doug

I have a Prosport in .177 that i bought used a few months back. Its stock factory spring and it definitely shoots hot. Yesterday i chronoed it and with 8.4 JSBs and it is shooting 915fps,,,,thats almost 16ft lbs and yes it kinda will wear your ass out after shooting it awhile. I am seriously thinking about dropping a vortek kit in it to reduce the power down to the 13ft lb range. It shoots well at its current HOT factory setup but the cocking effort is rather stiff.
