Question concerning Brocock problems of leaking!

I know nothing about Brococks, but have worked on about every other brand. That said, the most common leak point on all of them was the fill valve. Usually a small oring on most guns, and gets deformed or traps a piece of trash between it. It's the hardest worked oring in most guns so stands to reason it's the first to leak. Just been my experience, I'd check that first.

Yep, my Bantam Sniper HR has only had a leak develop at the fill valve.

Thanks thumper,

I was just curious because I had a small problem with my Bantam Sniper HR but it was a simple fix with the help of a friend. I've never had that problem with my Daystates or my FXs because I do know that if you were to fill the rifles too fast, it would damage the O-rings.

slcrc,

Thanks for response as well because my leak was at the fill valve as well but as I've mentioned to thumper, the problem is solved.

It would be of great benefit to This entire airgun community to share how you managed to fix that leak with everyone here in case this happens to their guns. Yo!

I replaced the Oring at the inlet valve on my Compatto it developed a leak after almost two years of use and thousands of pellets down range. My Bantam HR developed the same leak at the inlet valve because I filled it too fast... mea culpa. Both fixes where simple. AOA videos on YouTube. Other than that both have been solid.

Thanks L.Leon

for your response and it's something that I'll keep in mind as always. As I've mentioned before, I've never had this problem with my Daystates or FXs but this rifle isn't in the same class but it's another shooter that I've grown to appreciate.

@simplyhooked, glad I could help. I just finished another shooting session with my Bantam. It is wickedly accurate, I shoot very small targets almost everyday. This PCP actually makes me grin like a fool when I’m consistently hitting black walnut husks from 40 to 64 yards. I have made kills on pigeons out to 100 yards with both my Brococks. They are solid field PCPs.

PS.….."this rifle isn't in the same class" is only my opinion bases on my experiences with my other pcps and I don't mean to ruffle any feathers. JMHBHO.

I’m a mammal, so no feathers to ruffle. I took no note of your “in the same class” remark... I don’t push my choices on others, so it’s all good.

L.Leon,

The Bantam Sniper is an excellent shooter and I was telling my friend Humdinger that it's a real shooter. If this were my only pcp, I'm sure I would be crazy mad bout it but when you have so many toys, it's very hard to play with just one and I think I'm in my second childhood when it comes to my toys. The leaking problem was a small one and an easy fix, I'm just not used to having a problem with something "so new" and pretty much right out of the box. I love the fit and finish of th Sniper HR and I more than love the shot count, accuracy and the adjustable power setting. I've not stretched it out pass 50 yards yet but I do love its accuracy.

@simplyhooked, it’s understandable to be bummed if a product fails shortly after taking ownership. Though the inlet valve Oring was an easy fix. Getting the foster fill off the Bantam required a special tool? I was not pleased about that, but AOA made it right and provided me this tool. I was able to improvise a tool in the interim. But am glad to have this one for future maintenance. Simple “flats” on the foster fill would negate the need for a special tool.

Back at you L.Leon,

Thanks once again because I was able to use a set of "fine needle nose plyers" and it worked like a charm. After watching Steves' video at AOA, I was kind of lost until my friend Humdinger mentioned the needle nose plyers. It was a simply fix and unscrewing the valve from the cylinder was very easy and I did mention to Humdinger on this morning how easy it would be in making the toool. Thanks for sharing because this is the only way that we can save over selves money and time. Now that I'm retired, as of June 1st 2020, I can spend more time learning what makes my springers and puffers tick which is going to help me develop a great appreciation for my addiction.

"It would be of great benefit to This entire airgun community to share how you managed to fix that leak with everyone here in case this happens to their guns. Yo!"

The check valve was not closing after the quick connect was removed after a refill. Simplyhooked disassembled the male Foster check valve. He removed it from his Bantam by using a pair of needle nose pliers. The plier tips fit neatly into the two holes on the bottom of the fill valve to unscrew it. Air was flooding out rather than leaking out which indicated it wasn't a defective o-ring. It was repaired by reinserting the check valve spring back in proper position. The spring had gotten out of it's slot so the valve wouldn't close under air pressure. Reassembly with the small spring re-positioned was the fix. Easy Peasy.

Thanks Humdinger because you've given me the mind to ask questions and try to fiqure out some of my problems with out panicking. Having time to address these issues is something that I have now but knowing what to look for is what determines whether you fail or pass in your attempt to remedy certain problems.
