Question about the R5 Matador. 30 Standard

I just recently bought a R5 Matador .30 Standard here on AGN...unfortunately i wont get it until the 28th According to fed ex tracking...The question i need to know is what height Scope rings is best? I have a Hawke Airmax SF 4-16-50 with side shot...my goal is to get the scope as close to the barrel as possible and still have room for my side shot...

 I used Weaver Grand Slam rings. They fit a 1 inch tube on a Leupold 5-18x40. I like my.scopes as close to the barrel as possible. You're going to love the gun.

@mike_lenardon i am soooooo Excited i cant wait to get it...I too like my scope to be as low to the barrel as possible....So i guess the one inch will do just that....i also plan of shooting the 47 grn NSA slugs...i hear those shot really well out of the R5 Matador...what are you shooting out of yours??? & what range do you shoot at??? In my shooting Situation everything is 50 yards on out...

Judt received NSA slugs but have not had a chance to shoot them. If they grpup well they will be the exclusive ammo for this gun.

R5m long 25cal with athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 with Burris zee rings high height almost touchingt.

Might I suggest, if the R5 isn't so equipped, that you contact DonnFL.com for a caliber appropriate moderator for that beast. Unless you are shooting out in the "No-Where"...you will likely appreciate some additional sound suppression, especially if you plan on sighting in/plinking anywhere near neighbors. Just a thought from experience.

The eccentric moderator does reduce sound, but I might suggest as much quiet as possible for hunting, or if nearby neighbors are sound sensitive. A body does want to be sociable!

I have the R5M long .22 and with a 4-20x50 HD Discovery scope with SWFA Medium height rings. Still a little gap but not gonna buy new rings to get it a little closer.

@hepotter the R5 Matador .30 with the Huma Regulator i hear was Supposed to be super Quiet & back yard friendly....from 1 to 10 just how loud is it???

@mike_lenardon is your R5 back yard friendly? Im asking because i do alot of Urban hunting....I'm not really a plinker...when i shot I'm usually shooting to kill...

Very much so. I have a super long and they are supose to be the quieter of the three. I dont think you will want an additional moderator unless you want mouse fart quietness. ( is that even a word)

@mike_lenardon thank you...i just talked to Brian From Edgun west and he said that it was Extremely quiet... he said the impact of hitting a crow at 50 yards is twice as Loud as the gun itself... all i could say was woooooooow The R5 Matador seems to be a Beast...i cant wait to get my hands on it...
