Question about Hawke rings

I had to use high Hawke scope mounts on my Hawke Endurance 6-18x50 because the mediums I tried made the objective bell touch the compression tube on my HW98. However, the mediums I tried were made by UTG and not Hawke. I don't know if there's a standard height that is considered Medium, but in this case high scope mounts had to be used.

Hello aneijko,

Thank you, I would like to have the Scope as low as possible but if the high rings are required then I can live with that.

Thanks again be safe and have a great day,

ThomasT

Hawke tactical 2 piece medium 30 mm rings leave less than 1/8" clearance for the objective lens with a Hawke 4-16 x 44 mm compact scope with a 2"/51mm objective. The 50 mm objective Hawke scope has a size 2.2"/57mm objective lens. I believe that you will need high rings.

Hello Deerstalker,

Thank you I will order the high rings to be safe.

I hope I remembered this right because I just ordered a set of medium, but On GTA another member has a 4x16x44 with medium rings and he has 1/8" clearance. So I'd say with a 50 you'll need the high rings.

Hello egd,

Well that makes it unanimous, high rings it is.

Thank you be safe and have a great day,

These are the Hawke rings that I believe you would need & I recommend this style. https://us.hawkeoptics.com/tactical-ring-mounts-30mm-2-piece-9-11mm-high.html

Hey again Deerstalker,

The scope that I am looking at to buy shows it has a 1-inch tube, so I would need the 1-inch rings. If I looked at the right rings on Hawke's web site it would be model 22102.

I wish Hawke would offer rings with their scopes, make it a lot easier.

Thanks, be safe and have a great day.

Hello everyone,

This is just a follow up on mounting the Hawke 4-16x50 Scope on my Umarex Origin. I did order the Hawke 1" High rings and used them to mount the Scope. As shown in the photos the Scope is mounted very high above the barrel, a bit more than I was wanting. The gap / space between the Scope and the barrel is .3705". I am not sure if Medium height Hawke Rings would work and allow any clearance, but this might apply only to the Umarex Origin and not any other gun. The Hawke rings are not Picatinny style and that also might make a difference. I will order another brand of rings in the Picatinny style and see if that will lower the Scope. I am offering this information for help to anyone else planning on mounting the same size Scope on the Origin.

Be safe and have a great day,
ThomasT

Hello again,

Well the Scope is surely not uncomfortable to view through at that height. Took a bit of shooting to get it zeroed in but the photo shows a target at 95-feet. First 10-shots were covered by two 1-inch diameter orange patches and the next 10-shots are shown in the photo. As you can see the Bullseye is 1-inch and the majority of the pellets went into or very close to the same hole. I shot at a pressure from 3200 to 2000 and refilled the gun for the second round. I was using a new pellet for this gun, Air Arms Diabolo Field Heavy, 22cal, 18gr. , the Umarex Origin seems to like this pellet.

Overall I am very happy with this scope and believe the shot pattern will get even smaller after the gun is broken in better.

Be safe and have a great day,
ThomasT

Hawke 50 mm scope & rings are; 2.5”/63 mm scope objective for 50 mm, 1.4”/35 mm high rings for half height and 1”/26 mm medium rings half height. I believe that Hawke medium rings would NOT work for your scope as the Objective lens would touch by about .1",reference, https://us.hawkeoptics.com/mounts.html

Hello deerstalker,

As I stated above the Scope is very easy to use at the current height and it is zeroed in so pleased with the setup. However I do have another set of rings on order just to see if they will work and lower the scope a little bit. This is actually part of the fun. Thank you for all the help.

Be safe and have a great day,
