Question about "90 degree" hand grips

I noticed immediately, when the Panthera was introduced, that the handgrip at the trigger was a perpendicular or 90 degree grip as opposed to MOST gun's 45 degree grips. That position for me is just not comfortable. I'm curious if I'm the only one or if that position feels as unnatural or stress inducing to most other people. When making a fist & holding my arm straight the NATURAL position of my finger alignment & palm is a 45 degreeish angle. Also, being a drummer for 60 years, that has always been my most natural & comfortable positioning. No two people are anatomically the same, I get that, but is there some benefit of stability or something else that a 90 degree grip provides? If I WERE interested in a Panthera (I'm not) that grip would be a deal breaker for me. Just putting it out there for discussion & enlightenment. Any thoughts?

Don't know about you and your preferences, but I like the 90 degree grips. I switched just about all of my rifle grips to the Ergo 90 degree grips. Now, pistols — that's different. My natural hold for pistols wants a grip like the 1911 style.

Fab defense makes an “in the middle” grip that I found the most comfortable for my hands.

The ergo grip is nice because it's fat and has a little perch half way up it.

So I rest the area under my thumb on the perch... Leave my thumb on the same side of the grip as my fingers (so you don't actually "grab" the grip.. and you lightly pull the trigger when your on target.

I just switched from the Ergo to the Fab Defense. The Fab is low angle and better for me, but much skinnier than the Ergo, so took some getting used to.

Never tried a 90° grip. Just by looking at it I think it would be good if you were on a bench. If it was in a walking hunting gun, I would think that aiming up or down would feel awkward? Be nice to have feedback in regards grip and shooting style or position.

I wanted to go with a 90* grip for my Impact but I ended up with angled Magpul as it was more comfortable for me.

For me the zero degree grip works well for bench and shooting unsupported. When shooting unsupported I prefer to keep a rifle tucked in close (shorter length of pull) and I keep my elbow tucked in. The more vertical grip keeps my wrist at a natural angle shooting this way. Years of playing paintball conditioned me into keeping things tucked in tight.

Maybe that's it, I only hunt & the 90 degree does NOT seem comfortable for carrying & quick acquisition. If I had a handle on the FOREGRIP I'd want it 90 but not for my trigger hand.

Maybe because with a angle grip there maybe some people who will complain about how close the bottle is to the grip?

I don't even see this as an issue. It takes AR15 compatible grips. With the exception of high beaver tails, change it out to what you like and what's comfortable to you. That's the beauty of platforms that accept AR15 pistol grips. So many choices. I can't say the same for the BRK Ghost. They just hamstringed themselves by deciding to use an AK47 compatible grip with not that many choices out there.

I like the more vertical grips also.
0° (vertical) to 15° are my preference.
Unfortunately the guns with the AK47/74 grips, I've not yet found a 0° grip, so...I deal with...almost vertical.

Since trying my first 90* grip on a powder burner, I choose 90 anytime I can get it. I actually think 45 is more uncomfortable. I can get in a much better position at the bench with an extremely light grip using the 90 than 45.

I find the ergo tactical with the adjustable palm shelf the most comfortable when shooting off of the bench.

My second impact has the ST bag rider on it so that has the same grip w/o the palm shelf. That bag rider gets uncomfortable right by the lower meat of your shooting hand, where it ties into your wrist. I had to put some padding at that spot

I’ve worked on friends guns with the zero degree grips, and although I see why someone would prefer that style, it’s not for me. 35 years of squeezing on tin snips, hand seamers, vice grips, etc, it’s more natural for my hand to be at the angle the standard grips come in

It somehow make sence with a zero degree grip on a rifle, as if we think about it when we shoulder the gun, the shooting arm will usualy be 30 degree upwards. So if we do not like to bend the hand down on a angle, we will actually hold the grip almost the same as you would when shooting a pistol.
If you imagine holding a pistol, and raise the arm 30 degrees up in the air, the grip will be closer to zero degree down.
