I will have to assume when folks reference a 45 angle, they are referring to the 1911…..which is not 45degrees. It’s approximately 115deg from boreline. It’s hard to put an exact number on it due to front and back are different.
JMB’s designs leading up to the 1911 had a more 90deg grip angle, fwiw.
On a pistol, I find the 1911 the best fitting for me. But we are really talking about rifles here. The 90deg (0deg) fits me perfectly. An AR grip angle sweeps too far back.
Benchrest, I like the 90 best but really don’t care too much because I try to minimize contact with the rifle and generally shoot free recoil…but some girls do prefer to be held tight…
