I spent the weekend shooting my beloved Prod. I've had this gun for several years and it still puts a smile on my face. Its remarkably accurate and consistent up to 50 yards when shooting H&N FTT's.
jfrazier30: Tell me a little more about your Prod. This is on my short list. 1. Other than the extension air tube, have you done anything to it? 2. If so, what have you done. 3. What pellets does it like? 4. What do you fill the air tube to? 5. How many shots do you get having the extra tube? 6. How many shots did you get when the Prod was stock
Killzone: What pellets are you using? Have you tried others to help out your grouping?
Hi Jim - My P-Rod is in .22 cal and the best groups are with JSB heavy's. I have tried a lot of different pellets. Crosman did good by sending another barrel and after I get my M-Rod shooting better I'll change out the P-Rod barrel.
1. It has a larger transfer port. 2. Heavy hammer spring and Depinger from Hill 3. Jim Gaska shroud 4. BStaley o-ring mod. (to eliminate hammer bounce) 5. and of course, the Double air tube kit from Lloyd at Airgun Lab. (This was one of the very first prototypes.
The gun shoots the very best with the H&N FTT's in the 5.53 head size. It also likes Polymags. I fill it to about 2500 and shoot down to around 1800 psi. Here's a string from last weekend
It's been so long since I installed the double kit, that I can't remember how many shots I was getting before. But, I do remember that it was exactly double. I pretty much only hunt (Squirrels and Sparrows) with it, so I'm not sure how many shots I get per fill. I just keep it around 2100 psi.
