Quality BB gun/rifle recommendations needed.

Good morning all. I am looking for recommendations for a quality BB gun for my aging father (83). He wants to keep the squirrels at bay from his feeders. Not necessarily ventilate them but definitely let them know they are not welcomed, "sting" them more than anything but if one or several met their maker he is perfectly fine with that. I have plenty of firepower along with my PCP's but he requested a simple BB gun and if I am to get him one I want one of quality, reliability and accuracy. Something easy for him to handle, load, aim and shoot in rifle form. He is not a fan of scopes so iron sights are desired. I am not against a nice used one as well. Is there an overwhelming one to consider. I have been out of the "BB" gun arena for quite some time. Bolt action, lever action, pump, all are acceptable. Please advise. Thank You.

Hello I know you said a bb gun but if he is not interested in disposing them and just chasing them he might be better served with an airsoft gun. No ricochet concerns (6mm plastic bbs) unlike with the steel bbs and a little friendlier on the squirrels. Well just giving another view hope this helps Eric

If you just want a simple and accurate bb gun this is your ticket. A little pricey but it check the accuracy box.

I can vouch for the Daisy 499. Got one as a kid (40 some odd years ago). I still have it, still works great, and it’s true about the accuracy. Just make sure it’s under, about, 15 yards. My grandpa used it for a while on stray cats. Unlikely to do any serious harm, but like esingle pointed out, to make certain one can use an airsoft.

Here is another option. Since you don’t want to hurt the squirrels why not let them entertain you.

Squirrels are tenacious little acrobats. Look on YouTube for squirrel spinner feeders, squirrel catapults

squirrel maze. They will make you laugh till you hurt. Just an alternate idea. MM

How about a Crosman 760? Around $40 and a one or two pump powered BB will discourage any pest. WM

Recommendations on where to purchase the Daisy 499B ? I checked the Highby site and come up empty, see nothing at PA, AOA, Utah, Trenier. Even a nice used one would be perfectly fine.
