Put a Gladius moderator on the Impact

The good; it weighs just 3 oz and is now so quiet it's comfortable to shoot at 80fpe .25 in my smallish basement without ear protection.

The bad; it weighs 1/2 oz more than the stock unit and is 2 1/2 inches longer with the DonnyFL adapter that is required to fit it.

I think the good out weighs the bad in this instance.

It's beautiful. I have a DonnyFL Ronin on my .25 Condor. I have it set up for slugs and I'm making about 81 FPE (38gr slug at 980 fps). My Ronin definitely quiets down the rifle, but it's not exactly backyard friendly. I had some issues with clipping on my Ronin as well (found out that was my bad). I have found that the threaded 1/2-20 UNF cap on the Ronin is a little bit loose. I guess I could use some teflon tape to tighten it up, but once it snugs up against the flush portion of the barrel where the threads end, I think it sits straight.

But I was looking at the design of the interior of the Gladius suppressor. Very interesting concept of using the air to slow the air after the projectile has passed by. You're not just baffling the air in a tube. You're actually using the air against itself.

So.... That being said, how quiet is it? Do you own any of the DonnyFL moderators? I'm curious about a comparison. The price is definitely right. Also, what are the dimensions of the moderator?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Like I said it is basement friendly and I have a small basement so it is extremely quiet. It's allot quieter than the stock FX unit that the Donny is just a little better than. From what I gather the Donny moderators are some of the best out there until you turn up the power to 80fpe then only the Emperor really shines. For the 80fpe guns a couple others are still OK but not the best around. I don't have a Donny but expect I will soon enough as he has a few that are excellent.

Check out the link below for dimensions and more info.

sigp220

I have a sigp220 and love it although I usually shoot my airguns instead these days they cost less to shoot and make much less noise. Thanks for the info on the different units you have purchased.

You've just sold me on it. It's CRAZY what you said about the DonnyFL working up until you hit 80fpe. That is EXACTLY what I experienced with mine after I adjusted my regulator to go from 70fpe to 80fpe. I did it just 2 weeks ago, so it's very fresh in my memory bank. It went from backyard friendly to NOT SO MUCH. I went to the Gladiator website and saw there's a 2 week wait period for the manufacture of the suppressor as they are manufactured on as "as needed" basis. I'm thinking that they 3D print the internals of the suppressor. And they do it in a vertical manner. That way they can integrate complex turns and shapes to redirect the air flow back onto itself. You can do WAYYYYYY more complex shapes with a 3D printer (plastic/composite or metal) than you can with a CNC router or milling machine. It's a BRILLIANT concept. And I know now they are integrating carbon fiber strands into the extruded materials on 3D printers to increase durability and rigidity 10 fold.

Regardless, you sold me on it brother. My barrel is threaded with a 1/2-20 UNF thread. I'm assuming this fits the threaded portion of the suppressor that screws onto the barrel?

The Donny Emperor will tame an 80fpe gun but it is quite heavy. I got my Gladius in less than two weeks. Shooting at 80fpe in my small basement it does not hurt my ears at all. Yes, 1/2-20 on the thread. I used a DonnyFL adapter on my stock Impact shroud to mount the thing. Hope you like it as much as I do. Let me know how it werqs out for you.

I get a prepaid visa card as an incentive through my work. I have plenty of money on it, but I haven't used it in about 9 months. Well, since the last time I used it, the expiration date lapsed. So when I went to use it yesterday to buy the Gladius, I was understandably disappointed. So I contacted the credit card compnay who's sending me a new card via USPS. But I have to wait a week before it arrives. As soon as that thing is in my hands, the Gladius is being ordered. Thanks for sharing the info. The more I look at the design of the moderator, the more brilliance I see in it. I'm positive at this point the internals are 3D printed. It's a brilliant way to incorporate intricate details and engineering that is impossible to achieve from a CNC machine.

Ok brother.... I bought the Gladiator about 2 minutes ago. I can't wait to put it on my rifle. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll report back about performance once I fire a few rounds through it. The DonnyFL Ronin was great at 70fpe or less, but once I hit the 80fpe mark it got pretty loud.

Here's my new Gladius on a Redwolf. 22. Looks awesome. I have been using a huggert. The Gladius being 2oz lighter increased poi by a min of one moa. It also took took the annoying high pitched bark out. I think you'll be impressed with your purchase. I know I am.

That moderator is beautiful. You can tell the moderators from Silent Thunder Ordinance are very high quality. They aren't just cranked out in bulk.
