Results PSA FT Results - July 9, 2023 (AAFTA and XFT)

This month we setup all our courses on our covered ranges in case the forecast was correctly calling for rain. Everyone that attended will agree this was the correct call. It rained, a bunch and everyone managed to stay reasonably dry.

For AAFTA, the Blue course was on the east side of the competition rifle range, the Green course was on the west side of the competition range and on the deck presenting some wooded shots, and the Red course was on the Pistol range.

There was one target on the Blue course identified as malfunctioning, it would not fall using the target tester. Everyone was awarded as if they scored 2 hits on the non-functioning target.

The 3 course average difficulty was 28.5 (Moderate) and the individual course sections had the following avg difficulties:
  • Blue - 28.5 (Moderate)
  • Green - 29.0 (Moderate)
  • Red - 28.2 (Moderate)
Scores - Each course is a possible 20, and the 3 course total is of a possible 60 (ties are not broken):

The XFT course was also setup on the competition range. There were 10 targets, 7 targets were kill zone type targets and 3 targets were knock down style targets.

Scores for the 20 shot XFT course are:

We continue to push the limits in XFT by placing a few intentionally difficult targets in an attempt to determine what is reasonable. This month there was a 1 inch KZ target at 52 yards, and a 3 inch KZ at 96 yards - interestingly, the 96 yard 3 inch KZ target was missed more than the 1 inch KZ target, even though the 1 inch KZ was calculated to be much more difficult than the 3 inch target.
