Prophet Compact .22/.177

So barrel came in today. 6 days from ordering all the way from Spain. Crazy. However one little hiccup...it's the 510mm barrel not 400mm that I was expecting. That being said I'm not mad and in the grand scheme think I'm happy about it. Being that I want to shoot slugs, this will make speeds easier to obtain. And will make the gun more efficient in general. Barrel looks fantastic. Will run some pellets and knockouts through it to get a feel for the barrel.

It is LW. Barrel feels very smooth but does have a decent choke on it compared to the .22 CZ. Swapped barrel over this morning and no adjustments was shooting the 10.3 at 1015fps. The 13.4 knockouts at 815fps. Backed HS 7/8 turn and was at 890fps with 10.3. one full turn was 860fps. Shot very well. The 10.3 seemed to like to go faster out of this barrel. At the 1015fps I shot a 5 shot at 50yds definitely under half inch. Crazy. Knockout show lots of promise. Wanna crank up on the power and see what they'll do. But did shoot a 5 shot I'd say around .33". The rest of say we're around .5" to .75". Did have one or 2 flyers though. Gonna try and add 100fps to speed and try again. Likely try them lubed also. And the 12.5gr NSAs when they come. That's about all I got for my 6am session with it this morning. More to come just not today.

Ok so with reg at 150bar I can get the 10.3gr max at 1120fps. At 100bar I'm at 980fps. I think my reg gauge reads high though. My fill gauge is around 10-12bar high and when I get to reg pressure it reads basically the same on my reg gauge. So that's my assumption. Can't get reg below 100bar as the screw comes loose. So also why I'm thinking reg gauge reads high. But that's ok with me more of a guide than anything for me. And these posts help as it's basically keeping my notes elsewhere.

Today couldn't get a slug to read over the chrony. My assumption is 920fps max at the 150bar but idk. NSAs will be here Friday which I'm really looking forward to. Knockouts do have some real potential though. Just need more than 15-20min to shoot. But having such short time, the RTI Is really nice and quick to tune which helps alot. Haven't cleaned barrel or anything yet though. Have been waiting on my .177 patchworm kit to come in which it just did this evening. A good clean and lubing might help.

Tuned down the gun is super sweet to shoot. Have the 10.3gr at 930fps at the moment. Man even though BC is very similar to the 15.9gr .22s I'm used to shooting, the .177s really seem affected by the wind even more. Vertical is looking good but in the slightest breeze the horizontal does open up. Been a long time since I've been shooting a .177 PCP and is fun and more of a challenge in even light wind.

Yeah they have that. For me I don't care really. Like said more of a guide than anything to me. And if others are interested they can go off my info and get close at least.

As far as difference between the Prophet standard and Compact are barrel and shroud lengths and plenum. Otherwise exactly the same. Oh and the side plates have different markings.

@jmohme I think you'll be happy with either! For me the length and weight savings for my pesting the Compact made the most sense. However I do enjoy it in my Compact+ style right now with the LDC and 370cc bottle added. Little weight added and still only 30".

Got to shoot the gun today more. Man the wind is definitely a different game with these little pellets. Gotta say though the barrel is keeping vertical very tight. Here's 70yds in some variable wind 6 shots with 10.3 at 930fps. Not too bad. First one went left next 2 right then 2 left and last right. Winds tricky for sure! But very respectable for .177 in my book.

Not sure if its the same barrel that's on my Priest2 177 but just found out it seems to shoot the 16gr really well. I have only concentrated on slugs with this rifle so didn't know what it could do with pellets. I had just a few 16gr left that I've had for over a year as nothing I had would shoot them well. I decided to give them a shot at 30yards. Not sure the speed but just finished shooting 13gr slugs at 930fps. Shot a 5 shot group at 30yards dam near the size of one pellet hole. Of course had no more pellets to retest this. Needless to say I pulled my Priest off the classifieds and ordered 2 tins of 16gr JSB's. :)

Lol im hoping mine like slugs too! But can't say I won't try the 13gr or 16gr pellets also. If the slugs are only ok I will likely try them out!

So today I shot out to 115yds and at multiple speeds and the NSA 12.5gr didnt do so hot. Neither did pellets. Wind was basically calm so wasn't that. Out to 80yds for sure they do very well. Same with pellets. So somewhere between they fall apart. Since they don't do that great I think I'll just leave that be and shoot it just with pellets.

That being said...swapped back to the .22 barrel today. Tuned to 890fps with FX 16gr. Just a super nice shooting gun. Will likely use the .177 in winter time when shots aren't as far and just keeping the skills sharp. But yeah .22 is just hard to beat for me for my usual pesting needs....
