Prophet Compact .22/.177

HOW IS THIS TO USE NEVER TRIED TO USE ANYTHING LIKE IT

It's pretty easy actually. Can get pellets data from it. Insert your fps into it and your scope reticle. What distance your sighted in at. Then you verify the holdovers. Adjust a few things as needed. Never needed to for this setup though. It's been verified to 135yds. Just insane.

Ok so yesterday did some testing. NSAs did ok nothing special at all. Interesting note though. Slugs sized to .214 were by far the fastest at 848fps avg. But accuracy was horrendous like feet at 50yds. .216 and .215 as well as the unsized .2165 all we're about 785fps. I'd say 1-2" groups at 50yds. That was before I tuned it up higher.

FX Hybrids at 860fps did ok. I'd say 1.5" groups. Not going to use them either but was worth testing.

FX 25.4 RDMs at 850fps were very very good. Not a real pleasant shooting experience though. But to be expected from a 16" barrel pushing that energy. More power on tap though but if I'd want more I'd go with a .22 LR barrel kit for it.

Dairyboy - Thanks for all the information.

Where can I find out more information on how to buy & install the Mrod baffles? Have you had any problem with the baffles breaking after firing?

Also, I want to buy some .22 slugs for someone who will be showing me his RTI Compact. When I was ordering I had to select 216 or 217. What is this number? I looked at some tins of JSB .22 pellets and there was no such number. Do you know what number is correct for the RTI Compact?

Have a good day,

Bill R

I was playing around this afternoon setting up an 885 tune for Hades. After I got that dialed in I ran some 18s over the Chrono and had a new one pop up that I’ve never seen before, a zero spread and zero SD with 5 shots using H&N Baracuda’s. I’ve had some very low SD numbers with my compact tunes but never a zero. These sure are some awesome little guns.

Here's a group of "right out of the box" shots. The tune was as it came for AOA. I had a 5shot sighter string AOA provided that showed JSB 25.4 @ ~812.

Didn't clean the barrel just shot over the chrony. Shooting was from a bench inside my garage to the 20yd targets..longest I can get at home. :-( I didn't realize until afterward that I had the scope set to 10x..groups might have been tighter if the scope were set at max power.

No pellet sorting or weighing..just load mag with 5 pellets from the tins. I did notice some with less than perfect skirts and the Hatsans had little lead shavings in the skirt pocket.

Pretty happy with the first session. :)

Looks great guys! Man that reg is working great Tim! Mine is doing very very well sub 10fps. Not quite that good though lol.

Larry glad to see you did end up getting one. Looks like yours is shooting pretty hot! I'm really enjoying mine! Glad to see your pretty happy with your first session.

For Mrod baffles and spring you can look here.

https://hillairgun.com/product/baffles-and-spring/

I've gotten well over a tin in it with these baffles now and have had zero issues with them.

As far as slugs I'd choose .216. Did some testing today and that seemed the best with what I had. However those were resized 21gr H&N.

Will update later once done with dinner and kiddos in bed. Pretty interesting find today.

Ok so today I wanted to try out my H&N 21gr .217 slugs. Ive tried them before unsized and did ok nothing special. But was also like 50yds.

Today I wanted to size them and see if any improvement was made. I shot them at my tune of 910fps with 16gr FX pellets. They were coming out the barrel at 750fps. And this was unsized so .217, .216 and .215. Zero difference in speed. Need to do accuracy testing on the .216 and .215 to see best one between the 2.

Now I also have a .214 sizer. With both the NSA 17.5gr and H&N 21gr they gained 40-50fps over even the .215 sized ones. However accuracy goes from what looks to be under 2" at 115yds to I'm assuming feet apart. It's unreal just how little difference in diameter would make. But begs to question....why would the slug shoot so terribly when it clearly has gained speed. So it's not too small that the air is going around the slug but must be small enough to not be fully engaging the choke? I'm not sure. Quite confusing. I'd expect being too small would cause a fps drop not gain.

Anyways alittle more testing will be done with the .216 and .215 sizes, and lubed also. Will likely also find a tune for them at alittle higher speeds in the 850-900fps range. The gun can do it no problem. Do enjoy the ease of tuning on this little thing.

So today I played with the Prophets barrel before work. Gonna rain all day so no need to take it but have been meaning to remove the barrel and see how easy it was and then also slug it. Pretty easy to remove the barrel and a pretty snug fit in the breech. Barrel machining looks excellent. A nice oval TP that had a radius on the edge and smoothed it out already. And to my surprise for being a CZ barrel it's not a tight choke! Pushing pellets you barely notice any choke. Barrel is nice and smooth the whole way through. On the NSA 17.5gr .2165 you can definitely tell the choke is there on it compared to the pellets. However the H&N 21gr .217 can barely feel it also. I saw on my calipers about a .2165 groove and .214 bore after the choke. Not bad at all! So with that being said I don't think I'll get another .22 barrel. We'll see but with specs like that it's about as good as I can see it getting. And it's not pellet picky.

So I might get a .177 barrel for it instead. I had a .177 Veteran standard for awhile that I really enjoyed. Some shots I wish I had .177 as I don't need the .22s always. Long shooting .22 all day but around my calves and stuff I prefer .177 but I use the .22 as better all around. Can also shoot slugs possibly. Just depends do I want 400mm or 500mm. Leaning 400mm as I like to keep it short. Majority of it's use would be 12-20fpe.

Anyways I've also noticed people mention there barrel centering washer/whatever you wanna call it not venting. I wonder if they changed them? People said the oring gets in the way but on mine I see no issue at all.

>>Really enjoying how not pellet picky the gun seems to be.

+1 Can’t wait to get to a place where I can set up some 50 to 100 yard targets.

Did you happen to notice what the thread pitch was for the barrel centering washer?

Tim, so I decided to order a .177 Compact barrel kit. I got 12 tins of FX 16gr and 3 AA 16gr plus 10 tins of CPHP 14.3gr that it also likes. I sold all "extras" to fund some .177s. Had a few tins of JSB 8.4gr and CPHP 7.9gr on hand for my R7 but nothing heavier. Got 10 tins of the FX 10.3gr and also couple tins of the 13.43 Knockouts to play with.

Larry, yeah I think you'll be surprised with it! And I've done research in the past as I was curious and the threads are M12x1.

What speed are you shooting CPHPs Dillon? I had my PPC tuned to 877 for Hades. It was a windy today and the Hades just simply aren’t POI dependable and I can’t find a tune to eliminate the constant fliers. I remembered you saying you were shooting CPHPs in yours so I tried some at the Hades tune and they were zipping along at 905 and to my surprise landed in one ragged hole at 30 yards.
