Problem with the sharpness of my Gopro videos.

Ok you will want to change the distance you focused the new lens at. Usually between 3.5 to 4.5 inches which is the distance to the crosshairs. Its not so much the distance you have your scope at. Connect it to a computer via a cable so the screen is larger and twist the lense till it focuses on an object and is clear. Put the gopro in the mount take some video and keep adjusting till you are satisfied.

Ok my friend thank you so much, I will follow you instruction and let you know it was.

Best regards.

Hi folks,

I have tried everything and do not get the expected results.

I have had to make field tests from 10 to 100 meters and mark the paralax wheel every 10 meters on the exact point where the camera shoots a sharp image in. It is very tedious every time I go hunting and I want to film the shots, I have to measure the distance with the range finder, them turn the up-down torret at the correct distance, the turn the paralax wheel exactly at the marked point that corresponds to the distance and finally shoot 😅.

It looks to me your camera lens is not square with the hole on the side shot, the borders should not be blur like that but a solid line, if the camera is not positioned perpendicular you can get blur image too.

Also try to back up the eye adjustment on your scope one turn or two back, the reticle might appear a bit blur for your eye but the camera will get it sharp, the problem of the shooter film maker, you need to make the camera the priority not your eye :(

Thanks Orion.

I did many tests and the result are always the same.

Watching a video on the SideShot YouTube channel I notice that the distance between my camera's housing and the side shot device is larger than the distance from the original side shot device. Could this be the problem? Could it be that the lens of my gopro needs to be closer to the internal mirror?
Thanks for your reply.

I am suspicious that a lot of this has to do with the quality of the rifle scope. I've noticed if you film relatively closely and at 12 power rather then 20 things look a lot better. I've got a friend who has a night force scope and I want to try filming thru that scope. I see the problem as not being able to see clearly on that little screen what is happening when you adjust the parallax and focus. You are playing with the focus of the camera, the parallax on the scope and the position of the ocular relative to the cross hairs. Adjusting one affects the others. And the camera definitely is NOT at exactly the same position relative to the prism as your eye thru the scope is (or I think it so). Things change just a little when you start to record too. Remember this stuff is designed for guys hunting big game at close distances not us out on the lunatic fringe.

Best video's I've gotten are using a phone adaptor to my leupold spotting scope. Why. I think because of the superior optics in the spotting scope. Plus it's a big objective lens just giving you a better image to start with. Lets all buy $4000 night force scopes in probably will solve a lot of this craziness

Hey AGFE

I saw the picture of your side shot case to mirror housing and it is deferent from my case you have a spacer in between. Now I have the go pro 7black with the 12mm lens.

But I found that I focus the camera lens with my iphone or better yet an iPad on a object at least 15 feet away . Then focus the cross hairs install the side shot fixture and focus the parallax . Have done this on my vortex viper pst, eotech vudu, aztec emerald and my cabelas scopes without having to adjust the lens again.

Make sure the scope lens are clean.

Have not figured out how to post a picture

Thanks to both.
It is true that my scope is not the best, but the quality of its lenses is not bad and its clarity is very good.
I will try to test with different and best scopes to see if this is the problem.

Regards.

AG4EV.

I have a Hawke 4x12x40 and it takes really good video with the gopro 4 silver. Additionally I have a discovery ffp 4x16x44 and it takes good video as well.
