AEA problem with my new AEA megalodon 58 cal

im not sure if i have valve lock or a slug stuck in the barrel or something else ?

this is day two for owning this gun and the second fill, on the first day i only filled to 250 bar and only fired 6 shots as it was too loud to fire in that location but it worked great

on the second day i filled to just below 300 bar lets call it 300 and the same 335 grain slugs from Mollys lead shed

when i tried to fire the gun it just makes a thud sound and no air or slug is released, i heard 4100 psi is the sweet spot i will certainly do that from now on just to be safe

since i have never experienced valve lock i dont know what it sounds or looks like, to me it seems like the slug is stuck in the barrel preventing the gun from firing, but i can decock the gun and remove the clip and only one slug is missing from the clip im 97% positive that i did not jam it with a second slug but the slug does not seem to want to come out of the barrel so it might be stuck idk?

i noticed the mr hollowpoint slugs had a hard time fitting in the clip so i have not even tried those yet and now im bit concerned about how snug the bullets fit also the slugs are not lubed im thinking i will lube them from now on, do you guys used lubed or powder painted slugs or just raw lead?

the site i bought it from is airguntactical and they are closed on the weekend and Monday is a holiday

im not sure how to fix this problem and any help will be greatly appreciated thank you 🙏

Required equipment for any PCP owner is a wooden dowel, of appropriate diameter, with which to tap, from muzzle towards breech, any stuck projectile. The beveled interior edge of muzzle, called a crown, can be damaged by metal to metal contact so wood, or non-metal material is preferred. WM
thanks for the reply, i have not done anything yet as i did not want to damage anything or void my warranty although im hoping not to have to mail it back and fix it myself, i will buy a dowel in the morning thank you for the advice, do you think that is the problem or do i also have valve lock ? seems strange for the 7th shot of a brand new gun to get stuck, also should i be lubing my breech or barrel or the slugs? thanks again very much appreciated

You're welcome, stuck projectile is common, don't panic. Dowel will rule out stuck projectile, if barrel is clear then consider other issues. Note: Might have to tap end of dowel with rubber mallet if stuck projectile is really jammed. Good initial cleaning with Ballistol and PatchWorm was all I ever did for barrel, AEAC has a great "how-to" video on YouTube. I don't lube projectiles but some might. PCPs have an "O" ring on the pin probe or in a recessed area of the breech that likes a periodic drop of silicone oil. I've a bottle of heavyweight silicone oil, bought on Amazon, that's used for exercise treadmill machine maintenance. WM

ok thanks for the info i just read somewhere that airguns from sites like pyrimadair come cleaned and over seas guns from other sites come dirty and need to be cleaned before use or you can mess up your barrel and ruin your groupings im hoping that my barrel will be ok thanks again ill use a wood dowel and tap the slug towards the trigger/breech and then test fire the gun with a new slug if barrel looks clean enough, i have not purchased a cleaning kit yet im thinking of making a pull thru snake with weed whacker line and a patch with silicone grease on it, i also plan to start making my own slugs in the near future with a lee mold and i was planning to powder coat them if they dont fit super snug in the barrel, thanks again for the help useful info and it made me feel better :)

by the way im still curious as to what valve lock looks and sounds like i have heard its an issue with these guns

Own 10 PCPs, even one from Pyramyd Air, all barrels were packed with rust preventative that needed removal. Re-cleaning only when accuracy falls off which happens more frequently with slugs, than pellets. Easy to make own weed-trimmer pull-thru, YouTube has "how-to." Glad to help, don't know specifics of AEA Meg but might search archives using search box in upper right page corner for owner comments. Best Of Luck, WM

ok happy to report that the gun is working great i had a blast shooting yesterday i did notice the cocking bolt is loose after every shooting session and that bullet was jammed just one i believe from a low power shot caused by valve lock, once i unjammed the bullet with a wood dowel 7/16th in in width and used the gauge to slowly release pressure to 250 bar it worked as expected from now on ill fill to 4000-4100 psi or maybe try it without the cocking bolt ive heard 4500 psi fills work fine if it remove it, anyway i love the gun as expected my only concerns are the limited availability of parts and unlike a real gun it has alot of moving parts that can break

anytime i look down the barrel i make sure the breech is open no slug is in it and the safety is on and i try todo as much research as possible and talk to all of you before i do anything waiting is the hard part lol and i greatly appreciate all of your quick replies, thanks everyone
