Prevent Scope Creep (alcohol pads)

Just wanted to add how important it is to clean and degrease the scope mounting rails on Springer to prevent scope creep.

The reason I bring it up is because I recently cleaned the rails on a brand new FWB Sport w/ alcohol pads and tons of dark gunk came out. Was not expecting that, but had I not removed all that crud I can't imagine how the mount base would have gripped the dovtail rails well enough to prevent the scope from moving back

Just watch for rust where you use the pads.. like a 70% Alcohol pad can be 30% water as inert ingredient to make them.. may be non issue but thats my luck..lol

I use it and it's rare most time when there's scratching of the bluing like where the scope been mounted before or where it was slipping.. , heck maybe a bit of rust in the doveyail may give added grip?

I use Q-tips with gun degreaser, alcohol if I‘m in a hurry and want it to dry quickly. Either way great tip as some of the newer airgunners might not realize how much stress a springer can put on a scope and mounts.

I guess fwb still uses that slotted " scope stop" method instead of the scope stop pin holes ? Keeping a scope in place and no slipping is a bear to deal with ..?

Liquor Store "Ever clear " 180 Proof or 190 ? anyway straight grain Alcohol much better than pads . WE used it during covid in spray bottles for sterilizing hands and things we touched car door handle less expensive than less effective commercial hand cleaners .

I have used Zep industrial degreaser with good results.
