Question while we are on the topic of bad vs good quality 😆 this is a slug mass produced and I do not understand how they get this smooth almost waxy finish witch all large pellets and slug manufacturers achieve. Please can someone enlighten me. Thanks

Hi, got the Presslug 2025, having iuuses with the crown, no problems for a while then unable to unscrew the crowns top screw, its stuck solid and i mean solid, anyone else have this issue...... Al
I've only had issues with the PS dies. The press itself is great. I've reached out to the team at PS but they do not seem willing to resolve these issues. For this reason I'm looking at Corbin going forward. In the meantime I will be looking at replacement dies for the PS from GMI

Hi, yes — it’s lead ingress between the two parts of the split die, which pushes outward and puts pressure on the ring, making it difficult to unscrew. This happened to me once as well. What lubricant are you using? I had to clamp the whole assembly in a vice and free it with a punch and hammer.

Their lube is definitely a secret. Attached is RBT's I make with the Corbin.

There is a tumbling process which is followed, Zan used walnut and cork media initially, NSA uses ultrasonic agitator, So that why they look as the image youv've posted.

Hey everyone,... I have had my Presslug for almost a year now with .25 and .30 dies, slugs come out appearing as perfect as store bought but accuracy is not there.. I have measured diameters, length and weight to FX hybrid and there is next to no difference.... what I have noticed is the trailing edge is slightly different...the concave center is not as deep on the FX so the ring around the base of the slug is larger... not sure if this is an issue but its there.. at 75 yards I can hold inside a 2 inch group taking the center out of the target with the FX... Presslug looking at inside of a 6 inch circle... anyone having the same problem.. never have had a Corbin, I have kicked around the idea but that's a bucket of change again with maybe the same results
Do the Presslug have the same deep hollow point the FX hybrids have?

The hybrid has a deeper hollow point and is cone shaped, I am just comparing the 2 because that's all I have at the moment... I get great results from JSB and H&N slugs also. Going to try a die from GMI, in the mean time I am modifying the press lug die and see what happens (can't hurt what doesn't work).. For anyone thinking about a press lug all I can say is the press works great but the dies are what gives you the slug and press lug does not have options, Corbin and GMI are the way to go in my opinion if you are choosing to make your own but its an expensive trip, you can buy a lot of proven ammo for the cost of one of these things that may not give the results you were hoping for.

Hi, my core weight is about 33 grains, and my finished projectiles are 30 grains. So, my lead squirrel is about 1/2 to 3/4 inches. I'm swaging a .217 caliber at the moment. I get my lead wire from a local source, and I was told it's pure lead. For swaging lube, I've mixed lanolin and castor oil, which is suspended in isopropyl alcohol. I then spray this onto my pre-cut cores prior to swaging. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm quite frustrated at the moment.
I'm finding that sometimes too much lube causes deformations.

I'm curious if those of you that use the Presslug Press have problems achieving a specific weight? I also noticed that if I press more than once it will shave more weight off of the slug. It seems that one press should be enough but after pressing I get a bunch of different weights? My cores are all 1 to 1.75 grains of extra weight. Probably closer to 1 grain heavier than 1 3/4 grains. What would you consider to be an acceptable weight variation in the produced slugs. I'm pressing .2161 die, .22 caliber. My goal weight is 40 grains. I'm getting 39.99, 40.03, 40.08, 40.12 and some in-between. I want to shoot 100 yard benchrest and am concerned that this big weight variation will shift the POI too much. looking for ideas on how to produce consistent weight, shape etc. Thanks in advance looking forward to your responses.

Everyone has their on recipe on what works for them so here's mine as far as pressing the slug.. Use a smaller zip lock bag and put 4 or 5 drops of pell gun oil in it, close the bag and mash it together so you get a light film of oil thru the bag ( you don't want the plugs or blanks swimming in it) place blanks in the bag and roll em around... it last for quite a while and they seem to come out a lot cleaner.... I also double press each one, I have mine set in 30 cal to 50gr, double press mine come out 50.. 50.1 consistently... as far as the crown, where the 2 dies meet there will be spewed lead between them creating pressure on the crown, its a real pain to get the crown off when this happens so I clean mine out about every 100 slugs, when you do this also check the hole where the probe goes thru for the hollow point, it will build up too so clean it out and I polish the probe a bit with scotch bright to remove any built up lead. make sure it slides in the hole before reassembly ( I have broken a probe already and you can't buy em!! you have to buy the entire die set another 200 bucks).... I shoot 75 yards and out so all my rifles are set at 75 and have no problem at 100 with store bought ammo ( still trying to figure out the press lug for accuracy)... this might sound stupid and you'll think I am crazy but I have taken a flat punch and tapped the nose of the slug to create a small flat on the leading edge and it has helped??? don't know why but it has... I am in the process of making another punch for the trailing edge, the press lug creates a dish, I and going for a cone shape with a wider base also I have removed the probe that makes the hollow point and making a longer one to remove more weight from the leading edge... this is all trial and error, I have no idea of the outcome might be good might be bad!!
