Presslug support and discussions

Hi all, I'm starting this thread to discuss Presslug setups, including challenges, tips, and tricks. I believe most Presslug setups come with their own unique challenges, and I’d love to hear from other users about their experiences. I recently bought a new Presslug setup but have been running into some issues, so I’m hoping to get feedback and advice from more experienced users. Feel free to share your troubleshooting solutions, optimization tips, or any common pitfalls to avoid. Looking forward to learning from the community!

I dont see the need to tumble. If you must tumble find a softer media and reduce batch volume and time. In my opinion i would not tumble in my opinion why beat up a nice looking slug it kinda defeats the purpose of making your oun slugs. Make something near perfect then beat the crap out of it so it looks like comercial slugs. I myself am waiting on corbin set up so im just posting my opinion not based of fact or even trial and error. Im just curiouse as well

I will my setup was ordered last december when i inquired with corbin about 6 weeks ago they responded with.... most my order was complete just waiting on a couple punches they told me then it would all ship within a week or 2 lol that was 6 weeks ago. I knew that wait times were extreme ....at time of order i was told 60 to 120 days. But i knew i would have to wait a long time

I do have issues with finish, as shown with these images, hence trying tumbling with corn cob as part of an experiment. I've polished the die but still getting these results.

Yikes if thats the finish from new press slug dies i would be contacting them for new die set. I woud guess thats unacceptable from any manufacturer. Or at least i would hope so. Also are you useing new pure lead

That is interesting info for I just ordered some of there slugs . Thought it may be good to try them before large investment . I will see how long it takes for them to arrive. I am pretty sure my M4 will like em . Likes most every thing so far as long as it is .218 !

Well, good luck getting anything close to .218, more like closer to .217 if lucky... They have been out of the larger 22 cals for sometime now. A little while back I received, what was supposed to be .2173 and got .2165's. Shooting squirrel turds would have grouped better.
Are you talking corbin ?

Tumbling is ok but I wouldn’t use any media. Just the slugs in a clean tumbler. Then re-swage. This should not be necessary but if you are trying to eke out every bit of perfection, it works.

It does appear as though your cores are not heavy enough, how long is the ‘squirt’?

Also, what is the condition of your wire? Oxidation does not occur evenly and can cause voids. New clean wire is important.
