Preparing a vintage Heirinkan pumper for the hunt

To say these are rare, is an understatement. This is the only one I’ve ever seen. They are known to be very high-quality rifles made in Japan. They were also known to be very powerful. Significantly more powerful than a Sheridan or Benjamin.

I am not an expert by any means. For a half a dozen years I picked up really nice Japanese air rifles where I could find them. This was a very lucky find.

It is in 177, And shoots very flat out to 50 yards with six pumps. Also very accurately. I am using old brown box CP heavies from the 90s. Sorry, I don’t know the velocity.

I shot the groups below at various distances ranging from approximately 30 to 50 yards. The three shot group was the first group, and was shot at 43 yards. The rest are two shot groups, pumping is hard work. I was resting the rifle on the windowsill, actually on my hand which was on the windowsill.

The trigger as wonderful as the groups attest to. The beautiful Peepsight and hooded front sight help significantly.

I would put this in the same league as a Sheridan model A. In 22, it would be a step above in power.

If there are any experts on this rifle, please chime in and inform me and the rest of the group.

That group looked tight!:). I wonder why no one (company) in the ‘new world’ seems to think a great pumper, good trigger, power, and accuracy are valid anymore? Benjamin can’t put a lothar walther on a walnut stock, improved pump efficiency, and a Marauder trigger. Surely more people than reading this thread would be interested!….. Thanks for sharing that rifle:). Maybe the Japanese have built something lately I’m not aware of? Hope so:)
