Prepared to own a .25

I plan, in the near future, to buy a .25 caliber air rifle. At a local flea market I bought this box of .25 caliber pellets, cheap. Now to decide what gun to buy.
Or I might flip the ammo.

What will your .25 caliber be used for? Hunting? Target shooting? Both? Additionally, what are your expectations? How do you plan to fill it with air? I would recommend avoiding automatic and semi-automatic options. The selection of .25 caliber pcps is vast, with many excellent choices, and it is important to remember that a higher price does not always guarantee satisfaction.

IMO a lot of shooters have overlooked the .25 caliber springers. I wouldn't want it for my only springer but I really like mine.
Tomahawk and Stingray
They both prefer HN FTT so I stick with them. And they are the lightest .25 available which provides the least trajectory. Something to consider. eBay would be happy to locate some fanboys to help turn those other pellets into $$

Funny. Thanks for the memories, I sold those pellets likely around 10 years ago (already water damaged label on the one's from Tom) . The pelletman stuff is made for the Career 707II so naturally it would just make since to find one of those 90fpe lever action beast hunting airguns. Seems like sound "airgun logic" to me.
Really looking for a .25? AF Escape UL is super light, easy to find used and even new isnt too expensive. Stayed away from AF (Gunpower stealth) for 20 years and if you hace tried to original "12fpe" .177 in FT you would also. Needed a light weight yellow belly marmot killed for the fruit orchard a couple of years ago and purchased one Only due to weight and budget and was shocked at the improvement (even tho it looks the same). Maybe 20 shots tp sight in, 6 shots for 7 marmots (yup a two for one) and it pretty much sit's so do have a reason (and being airgun's that's easy) to own a .25. Then again I am a .177 type.
An original RAW (or have Martin work up one for you, or I am picky so maybe just buy one anywhere) with the .25 poly barrel and best mechanical trigger made? You'll never miss and have something you can pass on the future generations.

Also if you see my old Beeman MPT at the flea market just send me a message and I'll wire the money.

Really fun flea market score there, thanks for the memories.

I shot my P35-25 a bit today. I recently retuned it downward. I tried to get it to 50 fpe and could not reliably get there. So I dropped the reg and switched to 25.4s. It shoots them about 865 average when I am on the reg and after I get off reg I get about another dozen shots that averge about 845. Not that much lower. POI is also about the same. I need to do a real shot string, I was working on it today when the chrony lost charge. But I think its about 30 shots on reg. Not bad considering it's a 250 fill and about 220 cc air storage. I was also zeroing it with a different, cheap target, scope. I got quite a few 9s and 10s at 30 yards but some others too. There was a little wind and that scope is a question mark but any shooting is better than no shooting. The best news was the velocity was the same as when I put it away. That was the problem with it tuned up higher. Sometimes the velocity was much lower if the temperature went up, the energy in the regulated chamber increased slightly, and then the hammer spring wouldn't open the valve. It seems like the retune may have fixed that. A dependable ~42 fpe seems preferable to a maybe ~48 fpe.

Out west the need for a .25 or even .30 is very low. While having both the shooting of .22 cal with it's expansive range of pellets & slugs far exceeds that of .25 cal
If just wishing to play in the caliber and see if you have a use ... stay inexpensive while you shoot up your small collection of vintage ammo.

PCP ... perhaps a DAR or *JTS Airacuda Std would be my suggestion.
Springer ... not so sure ???
