Pre- FX Impact X regulator

Spoke with AOA and was informed that FX Sweden finally leaked that the Pre-Impact X regulator are not exactly the same. The X models indeed are made with stronger parts. Has anyone heard or confirm if this is true. I purchase the Pre-X model beleiving videos released by FX USA and other sources. Was very disappointed since I paid the same amount as the latest model. Only thing that I got extra was a ST barrel that doesn’t get use once the STX is installed.

I have both the pre X model Impact and the Impact X. Last Friday I received the Huma regulator in the mail and attempted to install it in an Impact X. After removing the stock regulator from the Impact X, I found that the Huma regulator that I had just received was too small. The Huma regulator did however, fit into the pre X model Impact.

Thanks, that confirms that there is a difference and the statement by FX that they’re exactly the same is not true.

My Pre - X Impact has at less a 3-6 bar regulator creep and over 30 sec recovery time. I always have to take a couple dry fires before taking it out since my first shot shoots at a lower fps.

Ernest Rowe said in one of his newly released videos that the only way to definitely determine if you have the new improved regulator is to unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the trigger guard and if there is a serial number showing when you take the trigger guard off … you have the new regulator. If there is no serial number showing, you have the old regulator.

Hi All,

From a previous reply to a related thread:

Once again, I am no expert, but I have access to all three versions of the Impact. In the interest of clearing up confusion created by so called experts (read Matt, not Ernest) here are the differences.

First Impact series:

Pointy reg adjuster, Short piston, 9mm reg body, 11 spring washers of which two are black and thinner than the rest, duro 70 orings.

Second series:

Serial number stamped on receiver, domed reg adjuster, long piston, 9 mm reg body, 16 spring washers all the same, some duro 90 orings, reg body/adjuster and receiver dimensions changed to allow for hole locations and adjuster screw alignment. This config can’t be used on series 1.

X series:

Serial number stamped on receiver, domed reg adjuster, long piston, 10 mm reg body, 11 larger spring washers all the same, some duro 90 orings, reg body and receiver dimensions changed to allow for hole locations and adjuster screw alignment. This config can’t be used on series 1 or 2.

Regarding adjusting the reg, version 2 and version X technically can be adjusted down under pressure, BUT, this needs to be done while the piston is not under back pressure. So fire the gun and turn screw at the same time in small increments to relieve said back pressure

I think some of the problem here is thinking that the regulator changed with the change to the x Impact. It didn’t. The x was only the change to the smooth x barrel. I up graded the trigger block on my Impact to be able to fit the latest regulator but it is the series 2 regulator as stated by Riazp above. So all x logo Impacts are not the same. The early ones have the series 2 regulator and later one from I thing about March have the series 3.

So fx at the time they released the Impact x where correct it was just the new barrel system that was different. Then with there “rolling developments” in around March the regulator changed again the the latest and wider regulator.

When Matt stated the x model was different to his early Impact he wasn’t meaning FX had changed the gun significantly when that x was put on its side. Just that through continual rolling upgrades iover it life it had reached a stage of refinement that it had evolved into a different gun.

I have kept my Impact latest Spec. When ever there has been a change I’ve updated my gun. Except the latest regulator.

Thanks for the information.

Before buying my 2nd Gen Impact I call AOA, Airguns of Utah, Airgun Depot, Treiner Outdoors, and Precision Airguns. All these vendors insure me that since it’s the latest model before the X. They were told that all the internal we’re exactly the same. They also added that the 2nd Gen was a better buy since it comes with the ST and STX barrel. Both versions were in stock with most of these vendors. $2,000 for an air rifle is no pocket change and FX should of been truthful and let the customer decide on which version to buy.

It sounds likely that you were told the truth, and FX simply made a later change to the X model. There will always be changes, and you'll have to continue modifying the gun if you want to keep up. On the other hand, you could also be happy that you have the older version, since the new Huma regulator only fits that version.

Upgrading the regulator to a Huma maybe one of my options.

Contacted FX USA and they’re doing some research base on my serial number.

I thought Matt Dubber was comparing the regulator to his 1st Generation Impact. Prior to speaking with AOA I was under the impression that the mid-gen Impacts had all the upgrades as the X except for the barrel. AOA told me they were under the same impression until just recently when FX told them there is a difference.

Yeah a lot of people thought that(including me) but there are so many things mechanically different from the first fx impact.

The barrel and reg are the biggest differences while you can expect everything else to have a chance on the rolling development Gen 1.5s.

I would divide it all with Gen 1, Gen 1.5, and Gen 2 which is the x.

The new regulator has less creep and can hit very high pressures but good luck utilizing high pressures without a custom spring.
