PP700 got its first squirrel UK style!

PP700 took down its first squirrel today UK style! I was just messing around with it and punching some holes on paper when I heard some noise in the tree behind me and in my disbelieve a fox squirrel was staring at me on a branch 15 yards away. Haven’t seen a squirrel in 5 months! I held my excitement in and casually loaded a pellet, put the little red dot on it’s head and pop! I drilled it in the head, it jumped up in the air and fell the the ground with a little thud then didn’t move an inch.

Not only this is my PP700’s first squirrel it’s also first squirrel I got sub12FPE or UK style. It’s shooting the CPHP 7.9 grain pellet at around 630-640FPS. When I first started airgun it was all about power, then I realized how dangerous that was. Even at 7fpe the little 177 pellet will go 1/4 inch Into some scrap wood I had laying around. So to take a squirrel at 7fpe was really exciting for me.

Very nice and sweet pistol. I agree about the power and the realizing it about accuracy over power. I want to tune my impact down for backyard pesting. I had a 25 mk3 shooting 675fps that was a laser.

Thanks! Lower power is a lot safer but also far more challenging and rewarding! I had my impact down to 580fps with Hades and it’s just a wrecking ball, dead accurate and devastating over powering still. The problem is since it is extremely effective it became more of a tool than toy, victim of its own success so to speak. I literally ran out of squirrels 5 month ago and this was the first one since way back. During that 5 months I downgraded to 22 then 177, thanks to cheap pellets and super low noise level I shot almost every day and feel I have vastly improved my shooting skills. All this makes this squirrel kill the most satisfying one out of 20 from my yard.

Awesome shot! Did you get any pass through at that speed?

it entered right in front of the ear while it was facing me so it’s in the body cavity somewhere, not a pass though. Crazy part was after I took the picture it started gasping for air all of sudden and twitched a little so I gave it a close up shot and it went right through the head shooting from the side. I am fairly confident that if I shot it from the side at 15 yards it would still pass through at 640fps with the 7.9 crosman pellet.
