Power wheel on the Texan

First day out for a quick few shots with my new Texan .45 and after a few shots I noticed the power wheel had backed off about a half line...is this normal do you have to keep an eye on it always?

Waiting On rings for my athlon midas to go on her but I through an old bushnell legend 5 - 15 x40 I had on a springer just to test today. By the time I got it to the 3" bull at 50 yards the the elevation knob had almost no tension left. Not good! Anyway first 3 shots at 2900 psi after getting on target were less than an inch and then I recharged and the next 2 in the same 1 inch....that's where things went south and it started spraying all over the place. Noticed the power wheel but I think the main problem is the scope not liking that much elevation. Thinking on getting that 20 moa scope riser to eliminate this problem. Still learning but I'm liking it a lot !

It sounds like your scope gotten pretty banged up on the springer, not sure what your grain weight is but at 50 yards you should be getting less than one inch groups in your power curve. I keep my power wheel at about 75% and shoot from a starting pressure of 2800 this is the peak of my power curve and I don't have to worry about my first shot being low because of valve lock. unless you are going to shoot out past 100 yards you shouldn't need any special riser, I have had everything from a cheap 40 dollar scope all the way up to a $1000 scope and never had any issues with any of them topping or bottoming out at that range even with some very heavy lead. The only other issue that may be is where your wheel is adjusted to if it is adjusted to light it may be causing you problems

I was shooting NSA 220 grainers on max power and wow what cannon of an airrifle.

After about a dozen shots the power wheel backed off about a half a line and it moves rather freely when adjusting. I'll get the chrony out in the next couple days and see where I'm at. I'm not a bench shooter I'm a hunter and was just shooting off a single front bag on the hood of my truck.
