Power settings for .22 Crown?

I'm about 2 weeks away (if my dealer keeps his word ) from getting my .22 Crown with the standard 500mm barrel.

I'm trying to read up about setting it up for different speeds. How do I use the hammer spring wheel and transfer port wheel?

Do I get maximum velocity with the hammer spring on max and the transfer port on .22, or is there more gain to be found using max and 0.30? Or is it just a waste of air using the 0.25 and 0.30 settings? I don't plan to mod the internals with porting, hammer spring weights and such.

Have anyone wrote down the speeds with different hammer wheel and transfer port settings using a .22 Crown?

My advice:

1. Get a chronograph 
2. Figure out what your tuning objectives are (hunting, paper, short range > long range)
3. Choose ammo that is appropriate for your objective(s)

I have bought a cheap China-chrono. Should do the work. That and some different JSB pellets.

Byt regarding the transfer port, will I waste air using a bigger setting than the caliber of the gun? Or will I gain speed?

Use the 177-22 setting for standard power.....30 fpe.

If you want higher power, you'll need to use the 25-30 setting.

I can't see the need for more power at first. Going to shoot between 15-50m and only with pellets.

Might buy a 600mm slug liner and shroud in the future.

HAVE my Crown .22 500mm set to 130bar .17-.22 5 on the wheel and get 880 with 18.13 and 920 with Hades. And for speed the GTO shoot well but I forget the speed.

Thank you for the data. Sounds like I'm not going to need the 0.25 or 0.30 transfer port setting. I'm going to use JSB 16, 18 and Hades för hunting.

you can use different pellets and different calibers only by changing the HST but my advice is to tune it for one specific pellet....
