A smoother uninterupted less turbulent airflow will improve efficiency and should improve accuracy from shot to shot.
You are kind of right but there is nothing wrong with the FX probe as is and it works fine with the way the transfer port is bored at 90deg to the barrel from the factory.
I may be wrong but I think it would increase production costs if FX had to machine the TP ( primary mod) as per the suggested mod on here, and could have been viewed as an inefficient use of labour (for a 4 to 5% gain on an already great gun).
However only once a user has done the mod to the TP ( primary mod) it then opens up potential in the probe for a secondary mod ( a bit like tuning an engine, no point polishing and porting your fuel and air intake/ without opening up your exhaust to maximise flow out, and vice versa)
