Posted Iguana Hunt Video for Puerto Rico

As mentioned in a short post recently, last week I traveled to Puerto Rico to hunt iguanas with airguns, representing Predator Extreme and Airgunner (UK) with a group of hunter/writers with the objective of culling invasive green iguanas that are undergoing and explosive, uncontrolled, and unsustainable population explosion.Hatsan USA sponsored the hunt and we were using Hatsan PCP Airguns in .22, .25, .30, .35 caliber models and they proved great tools for this control work. Take a look at the video as we go from trees to the grill with this edible vermin. http://youtu.be/aoFolCAwkbc

Great video Jim.

I spent 3 years in Puerto Rico (1999-2001). Unfortunately at the time I was more into kayaking, surfing, 10oz cerveza's, and latin women... instead of airguns. But after typing that I guess it doesn't sound all that bad.

I hope you had a chance to grind on some Mofongo con camarones.

I am working with some guys in PR to set up guided hunts, and we're figuring out the finances right now to include everything but flights. I can't wait to go back! I'm thinking that we'd do it along the lines of when I bring guys to S. Africa....... Meet at a centralized airport here and fly together. PR is a lot easier to visit as a U.S. Territory, but it's still nice not to have to worry about anything but shooting! I'm thinking we could do 5-8 guys at a time.

Thanks Michael,
I did the same thing living and working in South America, Australia, New Zealand, and other points around the world when I was younger...... I spent years chasing women and bouncing from party to party not realizing women and parties would come and go but airguns were foreever ;) I also don't think I'd go back and change it ....... because now I can stay focused :)

AMEN!!!!

I agree, traveling to hunt adds a whole other dimension! Travel has been a major part of my professional life and I've gotten pretty jaded towards it ..... but add a hunt with travel and the excitement level shoots up..... I'll go just about anywhjere to hunt anything! I know exactly what you mean though, I'm sitting in Tokyo having breakfast as I write this, watching a bunch of pigeons and thinking it would be great to have an airgun right now!!

I think iguanas are very cool animals, and where they belong and in reasonable numbers should be left alone, I certainly wouldn't want to shoot them. Puerto Rico is has a problem thiough, in that green iguanas don't belong there, they are prolific breeders and have no natural predators so the explosive population growth is unsupportable, and they are causing substantial aggricultural and financial damage to farmers ..... forget about golf courses and landscaping foliage.

You live in a beautiful place.... the iguanas improve the experience :)

I am glad this has been brought to my attention, since on a good day I can see Puerto Rico from my house might be time to start the boat up and make a day trip and put the Verminator to work.

I have an Aunt that lives on Puerto Rico so, lodging is covered as well lol.......

It has been a struggle to see the Iguanas at the house every day and not dispatch at least one.
