Polymags or Hades

So you can consider this a comparison but I have a 25 cal cricket that shoots the jsb kings at 925 fps hole in hole at 30 yards. Using that as my baseline I have tried the NSA 26.8 grain slugs and they shoot 865 fps with a 3” group at 30 yards. I have not gone out farther but I think I need more fps. Pretty soon I’ll be sending her to Charlie at Georgia Airguns for a power tune. But back on topic, so the hades shoot ok out of the cricket 1inch group 30 yards at 905 fps with a few flyers here and there and I always feel like I have to readjust my zero when I shoot. Now the polymags have blow my mind, hole in hole at 30 yards I have not chrony it but I can imagine that it is from 900 to 925 fps. They fit in the mags and I can see that these may be my go to hunting round until I get my power tune. But I don’t see many ppl talking about them anymore as much as I used to. For me the polymags are better than hades. Has anyone else have similar results.

Polymags have a worst BC than Kings do take that into consideration for longer shots where expansion may be in question. Also I have read but not comfirmed that Polymags do well at moderate ranges < 30 yards but worst then other pellets when the distance get farther out.

Absolutely not true! It's not good to spread propaganda unless you have actually tested for yourself! The BC maybe lower but they are deadly at distance and just as accurate if your barrel shoots them. Most barrels shoot the kings and polymags just about the same Poi

You are gonna like that power tune by Charlie. You'll have a whole new experience with that Cricket by the time he gets through with it. I really wouldn't worry about trying to get it to shoot precisely right now. He will send you a card with his results and what shoots best with the gun after the power tune. I used to have to clean the barrel about every 60 rounds through it, after the tune he gave the gun and lapped the barrel I can go 2 or 3 tins between cleaning. I use the MK11 and the JSB Heavies at around 930 fps and they do hole in hole at 75 yards.

Very true my Kings and polymags have the same poi

Sorry for repeating propaganda. I have shot them only to 35 yards and the accuracy and point of aim is about the same as Kings in my gun. Can anyone confirm that are as accurate at >50 yards? The BC is worst as I have record it with a Labradar. So at longer ranges the retained FPE is worst than Kings and Heavies. Slugs are the best for BC but I haven't found any that shoot as well as pellets. All or >2X worst accuracy. For the pests that I may shoot Kings or MK2 probably are a better choice for skull busting with penetration. If you are going for birds, squirrels Polymags may be a better choice. Has anyone taken in 0.25 raccoons or coyotes using a Polymags and prefer them to dome pellets?

Absolutely! I only use polymags exclusively when laying the smack down. I've taken Raccoons, possums and feral cats with polymags. Even body shots will put them down if you have enough fpe. Shoot safe! Oh, no problem about the information it's easy to be mislead on certain things. Most information that is passed along here is all read material from someone here or something someone was told instead of actual facts. That information with a grain of salt as they say.

I have more than enough FPE. All tests at 33 yards.

I haven't tried it with Polymags but with Kings if I go over 920 fps the accuracy goes to poop. With MK2 at 940 fps the accuracy is poop at 880 it was OK. I'm working the fps up on the Mk2 to see when the accuracy goes below my pesting accuracy < 0.5" at 30 yards. Even then I think at had a pass through on a coon from the front of one ear to the out the other ear with MK2 at 880 fps. I have read on another forum someone cranked up a polymag over a 1000 fps and blew out the back side of a coon's skull. They didn't specify the distance. I got Eunjin 46.3g over 900 fps a lot of power, but the accuracy sucked at over 1.5" at 33 yards.

From other stories I have read you no matter what you shoot, short of a high powered pistol or rifle with HP, if you lung shoot a raccoon they may walk off 10+ yards before coming to rest.

I have tried all types of pellets and many slugs, specially the NSA, there is no way the polymags can outshoot the slugs, I have shot 177 22 25 and 30 Cal polymags and pass 50 yards they spread like you shooting a shotgun! i like them a lot, specially the mess the create when they hit they target, but like I said I wouldn’t use them pass 50yards.

For me & my guns both are great but the Hades in my Royale 500 are benchrest accurate, not to mention the fact that I've not had a single pass thru in 6 months of hunting! All that energy dump stayed where it did the most damage. I've had many pass throughs with the Predators. Not all guns love em, that's the bottom line. With Polymags @ 100 yards I don't have the confidence in them as I do the Hades but they're still one of my faves.

Southerngunner has some good YT videos showing polymags and what they can do. I recommend his channel for some good laughs and good honest reviews.

Thanks for the tip. I find him informative and entertaining at the same time. I didn't know this about the Impacts.

That said I had problems with blowback on my gun (not an Impact) and found various places to seal it better. My test was to use a shop air compressor gun and pressurize the muzzle of the barrel to check for leaks. Found some bad o-rings and the thimble was threaded onto the barrel without any sealant. Got it to not leak until the pressure exceeded 40 PSI then I hear a small leak. Still wondering where that could be.

Given this video investigation I suspect if you pressurize an Impact barrel that air will leak from past the probe.
