Poly puts meat on the table

Got me a young one with my Mini Carbine using the standard Polymag at 31 yards. Body shot, right on the Shoulder. No pass through, all energy taken in. The heart was demolished instantly. Really nice mushrooming as noted below.

Since I had been promising my son to cook one, I took the back end and de-boned it. Used a tenderizer on it, and sprinkled with meat rub.

Then it was time to sauté in iron skillet with butter. What made this all worth it was my 11 Y/O son and 9 Y/O daughter fighting over first dibs on the meat.

"BigTinBoat"
"2D1C"I can't believe you guys eat these! LOL No offense just lack of experience. What is the taste similar to?
Chicken.
Looks great, but part of the fun when I grew up eating squirrels was chewing it off the bone.

For me is mostly pesting, and once upon a time would have never thought of eating one. But I had enough people I trust tell me how good they are, so, if I kill them, I eat them.

I eat them on the bone most of the time, but usually cook them for a good while to get them nice and tender, did not have that kind of time today. It was more like an appetizer, just one. Have a few in the freezer that will be stewed soon enough.

Nice shooting (and cooking) @intenseaty

I’m with you: Squirrels are an organic, clean living, free range, vegetarian fed protein source. Makes our store bought meats seem pretty disgusting when you consider all the herb/pesticides, hormones, antibiotics..and living in their own sh#t..

Love posts like this. Thanks for sharing!!
