FX POI shift Impact vs Dynamic v King etc. ?

Bhaur, you’re an extremely intelligent person. One of few I enjoy reading information from.
I’d love hear why you feel the poi would be controlled with the panthera.

Just to take into consideration, the liner is a thin wall different type of material than the plenum/shroud. The liner is still mounted with binding from the ends, and still has a flow able material (o’rings) supporting the center. The exterior of entire structure is colored black. A color know to absorb heat. While a cold coolant is being pumped into the center with each shoot (compressed air). And the entire thing is still mounted to the breach in o’rings.

In my opinion, poi is something that you live with to gain the advantage of the liner system. Is the liner system perfect? No, but it does have great advantages? Yes, only to mention a few. The cost of R&D and distribution. It has accelerated the technology in the airgun industry. Allowing quicker design changes with less expensive production. Bring new innovations to the market fast. Allowing older models of production to be replaced with newer models with a minimal cost. Is genius!
In ending, maybe the liner system isn’t for everyone. The people who use there guns only a few days of the year. May find the poi to be frustrating. Sure, I get it. I would love to see Fx make available as an option the older design smooth twist barrels. Maybe, we will see something like this in the future. One knows, good things often come around again.

I cannot advise on the newer models, but I have quite a variety of experience with the older FX Liner models. I can tell you all of mine have had issues with poi shifts after handling them. I do not bench rest my rifles after initial sight in and ammo testing, they are used exclusively for pesting. Because of that they get leaned up against trees, and truck tailgates etc, and I grab them by the barrel on occasion. I am aware of the shifting so I try to be as gentle as I can, but I have had poi shifting still pop up when it mattered most. To solve this I have added the CF Sleeve to every liner, and I have added some kind of shroud tension and my poi shifting has effectively disappeared. In my opinion the cause is simply the flimsy barrel assembly is weak enough to take a set when too much pressure or force is applied. This can happen just by leaning a heavy Impact up against a tree, or picking it up by the barrel vertically out of your safe.

If I were to buy something like a DRS, I dont expect to have the same issues. You can still install a CF Sleeve, which I probably would. It is not as simple or easy on the pressurized shroud models but possible on at least some of them. And I dont see very many people here complain about poi shifting on the newer models, so anecdotally it seems to not be a problem.

To be fair, many FX owners never experience poi shifting and will say it doesnt happen. There are a sizeable number of us that certainly have had issues, and in my estimate it comes down to the particular rifle and particular user.

I had an m3 .22 700 mm, I put the carbon fiber liner on it, it shot great but I sold it because of POI issues. You just couldn’t take it out in the woods and be confident that you could take an ethical shot on a squirrel. Same thing with the Wildcat BT 600 mm I had. Maybe the compact versions aren’t as bad but my FX experiments are over. I have five Eastern European bullpups with solid barrels and none of them have this problem. FX needs to develop a gun with a solid barrel but them doing so would be admitting they have a problem which Fredrick has already denied.

Most of the time we read about POI shift in Impact.

I would like to know if newer models in which liner is under air pressure like in Dynamic, Panthera and King etc. , is there still issues of POI shifts ?

I feel that POI should not shift in Panthera, Dynamic and King etc.

Please share your real life experience.

Bhaur
The dynamic platform will still suffer poi shift with a good wack, but is minimal. I would expect a fully supported as the DRS etc would eliminate this all together.

If I accidentally tapped the barrel on my AirArms S510 the POI would be off until I loosened the support band and recentered it. Let’s stop pretending this is an exclusive FX problem. I will say it would take an awful lot to move the barrel on my Brocock XR.
This is an issue with many barrel band setups. The FX Barrels have an added set of problems separate from any barrel band poi.

I own 2 impact FX,s and amongst friends have access to another 5 FX,s ... ALL have POI issues.
2 other friends sold of their FX,s due to this exact issue.

I myself will never purchase another FX unless they come up with a "Real" barrel and durable, consistent barrel system.

Accuracy itself can be astonishing... BUT !!! its just never in the same spot !!
