Forgive me if this is an old realization. This is my first winter with My Impact in 30 and Crown Continuum in 25. I have noticed something this winter. When I shoot the first 25 shots or so coming right out of the warm house to my bench in the back yard, it’s dead on as both the guns have been since I bought them last Spring and sighted them in. Both are hole in hole Tack drivers as you all know that have these guns. As the gun sits out in the cold and cools, the next magazines after that have about a 1-1.75 MOA shift to the left and about the same 1.5-2 MOA shift down.... its hole in hole but the shift is there and happens every time I have shot this winter. Seems to be 40 degrees and lower is when this comes into play which is pretty much 3.5-4 months of the year in my neck of the woods.
Now that I know it’s there I have simply made a winter card for my various ranges and have had no issues. Interestingly, I can leave the gun inside and fill it after I have been outside, go back outside and change my MOA adjustments back to “summer” and the first mag is dead on... reload and change them to winter MOA adjustments and it’s dead on.. When I go hunt I just set the gun for the winter adjustments because I know by the time I get on something the gun will be cold enough that those are the MOA adjustments that will apply. Kinda interesting.
