POI change with temperature?

Hello, I have a newbie question. When I get back from work there is a 20-degree temperature change, and after sighting in during the morning time I'll get a 3/4" drop in POI in the afternoon. Is this normal? I'm using an Athlon Midas tac scope and a Daystate wolverine.

I would think not,also I would always put my gun and scope in the coolest place ,20degrees is a lot,metal gets hotter,keep it in a cool place.
My scope guns do not change that much. They're in the house .still between winter and summer shooting my poi doesn't change much. I not saying it can not happen.I'm saying it should not be that much of a shift.keep your guns in the coolest place until you use them.

The short answer is yes, this is primarily due to the expansion and contraction of different materials in the rifle and scope as they heat up or cool down. Temperature also affects air density. At colder temperatures, the air is denser, causing the bullet to fall harder, while at warmer temperatures, the air is less dense, causing the bullet to rise harder.Just look at European competitions where shooters insulate the barrels or cover the sights with heat-resistant material.
