POI Change with Compensator

If you've seen my Steyr threads, you know I'm thrilled with the rifle. So much in fact that I'm tinkering with accessories a bit that I haven't done much of with my other rifles. (I've only been "doing" air rifles for about 5 years).

I bought this Compensator which is advertised for the 16mm barrel on .22 Steyr. I bought it simply because I thought it was cool looking (I'm 64 and my grandkids don't think I have license to use the world "cool"). I removed my Belita Huggett and put this on the end of the barrel. It seems that (short range -13 yards) the point of impact has changed and the group enlarged. The pellets are striking 1/2" towards 11:00 and the group is about double the size of a hole and half with a flier usually causing the spread.

I'm wondering about how well lined up these interior cones (2 shiny things)? Maybe the pellet is being clipped by this device?

Anyone have thoughts on it. By the way, the Compensator isn't a have too item because it doesn't provide any deadening of the rifle, like the Huggett does.

Thanks
Roy

Thanks all. A couple times now this site has helped me discover my mistakes. I’d much rather know than not, but a bit humbling to discover goofs in public😎.

I wondered about drilling out the cone holes myself. I might try that. The unit isn’t damaged, that I can tell. But as one suggested, if I sell it (before drilling of course) I’d be obliged to tell this story. Or I could mount on a plaque, “Read the Fine Print!”

I’m just glad I didn’t put a hole in the wall on my indoor range!

i knew when I bought this I would likely not go for looks over quiet and stick with a moderator. So not a big deal. I just hate that I was so focused on getting it that I didn’t consider the caliber.
