I have a Mrod-Air Plinkster with a bad leak. I’m looking for info on the CO2 cartridge seal. Seller wasn’t much help. Does anyone have info on where to purchase more seals or maybe the dimensions and what material it made of. Thanks.
I have one of these guns that I bought from MRODair. My gun came with a packet of seals. I have found that I have to use some sort of lever through the hole in the end cap to seal the gun when I insert a new cartridge. There is no seal under the end cap. I would guess there is a seal where the cartridge butts up against the piercing pin. Have you tried Tom Gaylord's cure of adding some Alphabet org fluid. This has worked for me on several guns.
If you’re referring to the face seal on the valve, you can replace it with a -009 O-ring. 90 durometer polyurethane preferably but a Buna-N will do in a pinch.
That just ain't right if the new gun doesn't seal without having to mod it. I would request a shipping label groom the seller to exchange it for a new one and have the seller test the replacement before sending it.
I forgot to mention, but I’ve had this gun for a while. Probably have 2000 pellets through it. The replacement seats that came with it didn’t include the one I need. The seal is trashed, probably from over tightening the cap.
The -009 O-ring will get you back in business. Somehow the seal on my CP1-M has never needed replacement, despite being both older and having gone through significantly more cartridges. Probably just another anecdotal example of how variable the quality control is. Fortunately they are super easy to work on, and they respond great to some tuning and TLC.
I just wish they would stop abusing the barrel crowns. First the Plinkster:
Thanks for the info on the o-ring. I think I have some in that size. My crown was also a little buggered up. A brass screw with a little valve grinding compound fixed it right up. I also opened the valve up some and enlarged the port. I don’t have a chrono yet but it seems a little faster.
