Well, I actually have an excuse. Been fighting a slight tickle in my throat then it turned into a mild sore throat after about a week. I figured I would get some extra rest and hang home today so it wouldn’t get worse or spread it to my co-workers.
I woke up feeling pretty good and after some herbal tea and oatmeal I headed outside for some springer love.
First off I grabbed the HW97K. I have been nailing the targets at 25 yards and I was curious how I would do at a longer range so I stepped off another 25 generous paces and set the targets up at 50 yards. I guesstimated the holdover for that distance and nailed it the first go around. Then I proceeded to shoot 5 shot groups. After some warmup and confirming the POI I swung the rifle left a few degrees and took aim at a “shoot to reset” target, steadied the rifle and squeezed the trigger. KA-chunk! The pellet was off and in a moment that satisfying sound of the metal paddle being hit rung out and there was a 1.5” hole in the center of that “wild boar”. I LOVE IT!!! After a barrage of lead pellets launched with the 97, I switched over the the venerable R9 .22.
The R9 was going a great job of sending those H&N FTT 14.6 grain pellets off in the right direction. I noticed that there seemed to be a little wiggle in the barrel so a quick tightening of the barrel pivot bolt and some left windage adjustment on the Hawke scope brought the stars back into alignment and the R9 continued to throw lead downrange with the greatest of ease and accuracy!
It is a absolutely beautiful sunny fall day outside and I’m glad to be able to spend some time shooting in my own backyard. I just wanted to share my lazy day you all while I enjoy my air rifles. Thanks for looking!
