Plasti dip Impact bottle

I'm looking to protect my new impact bottle. I was wondering if anybody has tried to use plasti dip to cover their bottle. The only thing I am worried about is if the carbon fiber would have some sort of reaction to the dip. It would be great if it would work. It would look good, add protection and you could take it off whenever you want. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

You need to be able to read the date code on the bottle so you know when to have it hydro-tested. You also need to be able to see damage so you can quit using it and it will pass visual inspection. Removable covers are the best way to go.

Yeah, I would take a picture or write down the dates. When it was time for inspection you can just peel the stuff off and redo it after inspection. It would also show if it got nicked or damaged in any way

I like the Plasti-dip stuff and have used it on several things. I am pretty sure it will not react with your carbon fiber. Not much reacts with epoxy based stuff. Seems I remember someone doing this before hopefully they will chime in.

The one thing I didn't think about was getting ballistol on it when cleaning. I'll have to try a test piece

Do you really want to take the chance of something degrading your bottle holding 250 bar of compressed air? Unless the manufacturer is willing to stand behind any coating you might use on the bottle I wouldn't be adding any permanent coating. I know a couple guys using neoprene beer koozies to protect their bottles and to add a bit of color.

I wouldn't be concerned with plasti-dip reacting to the covering of you tank. I've never tried to remove plasti-dip but I wouldn't do it unless you can peel it off to return the bottle to it's original appearance. Otherwise you'll make your Impact harder to sell if you ever choose to move on to something else.
