How do you guys secure a piston seal to the piston? Thank’s, Nick . Locktight? Or what?
Thanks to all that answered! I’ve all ready cleaned all the old deterioated seal out of both piston and inside the tube, if that’s what you call it , a thousand pieces! ,but I don’t think it was leather?the new one has’nt arrived yet , the picture look like synthetic . What was left in the piston looked like it mite have been locktite? I’ll try to take photos tomorrow, thanksIll assume this 124 is the same gun.
Days first gun to use a synthetic seal but they stunk. Modern seals for it are good to go.
If you can glean any info from this may help . Looks like once your old seal is out you just push the new in like a plug.

by B.B. Pelletier Part 1Part 2Part 3 My enshrined 124. Today, I'll complete the tune on the FWB 124. A couple people have asked about this gun. What makes it so special? Well, it's lightweight, accurate, easy to cock and shoots like a dream. It's the very rifle AlanL has been searching for but...www.pyramydair.com
Right no leather . That gun was the first model to use a synthetic seal .Thanks to all that answered! Lol.. i know right? Just what he has on the seal could do 3 complete springers properly..lol."Great Gobs of Grease, Batman" look how much grease he globs on the bellville washers.
Why did Batman RUN to the Batcave?
He had to go to the Batroom!
I was wondering if you put that seal in the freezer to maybe shrink it 100,0000 or even help stiffn it then lube the anchor tail end with good slick owl snot stuff then maybe easier to press in? Dont know what the tolerance is on ot to the hole or if it mushrooms out trying to push it in the hold as is room temp .. lol.Ok .... on 124's the seal is pressed INTO the pistons nose within a counterbore. there is a radial GROOVE at the bottom that MUST BE 100% cleaned out !!
From there a small daub of lube on sides of the counterbore and on the tail of seal. Place on a firm surface held vertical and FIRMLY push piston down onto the seal until all is flush with back of seal being against front of piston. Next .... SIZE and fit the seal to deburred comp tube.
Ok, did not know if it was a pa seal or whos.. on sale here as wellThe country store
Bazooka Joe, man, I haven’t heard that one in years! It's a mixture of wax and Bazooka Joe bubble gum. You have to size the new seal!
This guy puts way too much grease in the gun https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2010/03/a-shrine-built-for-a-feinwerkbau-124-part-4/
