N/A Pistol Shooting Eye Fatigue

@maxtrouble I am using a Holosun 507c reflex sight. I have not used other models or dots. I take a break when I reload or finish a group (5, 8, or 9 shots). When I can see the holes from where I’m standing I will move the pistol to view the target to be sure I’m close to my POA. I will shoot 2 or 3 shots at close intervals sometimes. At other times I shoot slowly shot by shot focusing on my breathing and trigger “pull.“ I tend to shoot the pistol later in the evening around sunset shooting towards the horizon with the setting sun behind the tree-line.
@.20calguy said earlier; "I generally have contrasting backgrounds to help with visibility."

The olympic shooters seem to all have a black background / wall, then a black box with a white square target paper with a black target area.

Have you tried a different shooting setup? Maybe those hot rod pistol shooters know something. I bought a stack of these to shoot at in my basement. I have this target at about 28 feet and I do not experience eye fatigue.

I don’t know where this assumption that I’m not shooting with both eyes open is coming from, but it’s annoying as hell. I’ve already stated within this thread that I SHOOT WITH BOTH EYES OPEN. I’m trying to learn to shoot an air pistol properly if you can help with suggestions there I would appreciate it.
I believe your issue is your focal point. I mention the use of both eyes because it is first essential and a common error..

@Steve-I I shoot with both eyes open. It seems to be mainly an issue with small targets (an inch in diameter or smaller). The longer I shoot and the smaller the targets get, the more I find myself trying to hold steady to align the reticle with the target. I think this is what tends to cause me eye fatigue.

@Steve-I The post you quoted wasn’t directed towards you. Above is my response to your statement as you were the first to mention shooting with both eyes open.
@Steve-I what do you recommend that I focus on specifically concerning my technique if we factor out keeping both eyes open (because I’ve been doing that)?
@Steve-I While viewing the target through the sight I sometimes find myself chasing the reticle. That means that the way I’m building the pistol allows me to see the target, but the reticle is out of sight until I make slight movements with my wrists or shoulders. Usually when this occurs I’m aiming at the bottom row of smallest the targets.
@.20calguy Thanks for the suggestion. I practice shooting paper. I’m not set up for metal-paddle types of reactive targets at home. This is the target It’s mainly the bottom row when I experience fatigue. I’m usually starting at the 1 or 2 and sometimes the 5. Either way the bottom row is usually last.
