O.K. guys, the Brown truck carrying my gun didn't come by the house until after 8:00 pm, but I now have my new gun. I can so far say that not everything is Skittles and beer, but at this point I feel neither pisht-ov nor pisht-on. I will at least be able to cover a few points about my new gun tonight.
First off, the gun was shipped and received in a single box, which unfortunately UPS didn't treat so nicely. Ru-roh...
That little yellow safety card is in a zip lock bag, which I believe also contained the second magazine (first mag is installed in the breech) and fill adapter. Unfortunately it did not make the transit intact.
Magazine (and I guess fill probe, as it is MIA) made their way out of the bag, with the mag ending up loose in the box, and the fill probe ending up... well, somewhere between Texas and California.
Gun folded in box. Some looseness to the adjustable AR style stock, but the folding mechanism locks up pretty nice and tight. Locks in the folded position as well.
Some scratch damage on the air cylinder (from sliding around loose in the box during transit?) and a nick on the edge of the fill hole. Wasn't this gun supposed to come with some kind of dust pin to be in that hole when not filling? Anyway, this is a beater truck gun to me, but if you are looking for something pristine and/or collectable, well...
Some close-ups. Mine is a .22 gauge like the referenced unboxing video showed. Oh, and and you may have noted that the breech body is not red, as shown on the web site.
Bet I know where they buy their gauges. But how much pressure to fill to? No instruction manual, only a 'safety card', which implored me to fill only to the pressure specified in the instruction manual. Well Duh! Anyway, the sales web site said 200 bar in the specification section, so that's what she got:
Weight of gun with filled air tank, and empty magazine:
But wait... you said that your rifle was missing the fill probe!?!?! Well, I'm the impatient type and
while you should not try this at home, I decided to see if a fill probe from another gun of Turkish manufacture might fit/work. The one from the Hatsan Hydra fit just right, and allowed filling of the Pishtov cylinder as well. I'll still contact the distributor/seller, but who knows whether they even have any parts in stock yet?
I'll finish up tonight's ramblings with some subjective sound and objective trigger-pull data.
This gun doesn't know the meaning of mouse fart, although to be honest I 'assessed' its noise level in the garage during trigger pull weight testing and without firing a pellet- probably the loudest possible scenario. But I can pretty much assure that this gun will not be backyard friendly even under better conditions, without an additional moderator. Haven't tried to remove end cap from the shroud yet, but if it does come off it appears that it will have male threads in approximately the 22mm diameter range.
Trigger pull was better news (at least to me). Single stage with a medium heavy (not in a bad way) initial take-up, and a pretty surprising break of the shot. Will take some getting used to, but much better initially to me than some guns I have shot with a 2 stage trigger with a gritty, heavy break. 3 trigger pulls were very consistent: 1# 15.6 oz, 1# 15.4 oz, 1# 15.6 oz. And the good thing is that it doesn't
feel like a 2 pound trigger. While it is no Red Wolf, Pulsar, FX, etc., I think I will be able to get used to it pretty quickly and get along with it pretty well.
That's all for now - hopefully more tomorrow.
